If DS does signs with TN anyone think were setting ourselves up for another D Arnett situation ? If things are this shaky now whats going to happen when he gets homesick? I want him as much as anybody but we need guys that are committed to this program for the long haul not looking for excuses to leave.

its a good point, but his parents aren't sick so i think he would have to have a better excuse.

Mizzou and A&M will no doubt not come in right at the top with Bama and LSU, but they certainly are not inferior programs watering down the SEC. IIRC, Mizzou was ranked number one in the country a few years ago, and A&M is consistently in the top 25 as well. I think these two teams fit perfectly into the mix.

They are similar to Arky and USCjr. Good middle tier schools that should add to the competitiveness and fanbase but year in and year out not a consistent threat.

Possibly, but I think it's a risk worth taking.

Let's just get him here first and then worry about the rest later.

During the regular season & the post season, the Big 12 was the 2nd best conference. In fact, for much of the regular season, the computers had the Big 12 as the best conference. Am I saying the elite of the Big 12 is better this past season than the elite of the SEC? Of course not.

Also, with WVU and TCU coming in for A&M and Mizzou, the Big 12 has become more difficult while the SEC has become easier. A&M and Mizzou are great additions for the SEC relative to eyeballs watching TVs and better TV contracts but purely in football terms, the Big 12 came out of realignment much better.
This whole conference issue is what has confused the aggies relative to recruiting. They think recruits will be more excited about them because they are in the SEC. Conference affiliation means more to them, and probably to you guys, than it does to Texas. Kids from the lonestar state grow up wanting to be a Longhorn and it has nothing to do with conference affiliation. They feel that being a Longhorn is special.

Completely wrong on all counts.

The Big 12 would rather have Mizzou & A&M.....

.....not for football reasons but because of more eyeballs watching TVs means more $ in TV contracts. Whatever markets A&M brings to the table are already covered by other Big12 schools but the same can be said for TCU. So it comes down to Mizzou vs WVU and the 2 major in-state markets Mizzou delivers are clearly superior to what WVU delivers.

Still, as fans, we don't personally see any of this $. In purely football terms, the Big 12 got better with the swap and the SEC became watered down with inferior programs.

So, you'd have me believe that on a purely 'football' sense, the new B12 pair is more desirable than the ones that left?

Ok, meat. Keep telling yourself that.

Tejas has ruined every conference they have ever been a member of. Big 12 will go the way of the southwest conference because of Tejas and their arrogance
