Who will Kimbrow choose?

Azubike has been a lot more vocal regarding his process than Kimbrow so I would have to agree. Kimbrow doesn't reach out a lot.

Yeah nothing seems to be clear with Kimbrow right now. Rumors about him are all over the place. Who knows.

I don't think the news on Kimbrow is all over the place, unless you have been looking at Scout, which is to your own detriment.

As I understand Kimbrow is committing to Vandy next week according to multiple sources who have knowledge of the situation.

I just hope we don't turn this kid (or any of the others) into another Harrison Smith and "message board flame" him into going to another school. Especially if he DOES pick Vandy next week. Nothing's over until February.

Does anybody here remember some shenanigans Tom Green and Monica Lewinski pulled with the media about 10-12 years ago. They travelled together, stayed in hotels together, then announced they were making a big announcement together. The media went into a frenzy, followed they're very move, reported they're engagement, and we're headlining them every night on Entertaiment Tonight and all those other God awful shows. Then Tom and Monica on the day of they're announcement, told the crowd of litterally thousands that they were going into business together making purses. The media was furious for being played. It was absolute brilliance, and on the show, you as the viewer watched as they minipulated this situation.

Now, I have no reason to believe that's what's going on here, but this does smell of some chicanery, and could easily top everything DA accomplished last year. The fact that Bowles and Jelks names have been thrown in there has added to my suspicions of this. We'll see....

I was just thinking about this earlier. Whether or not this recruiting splash is bigger or smaller than we anticipated, we're still talking about Vandy recruiting in June.

1. Josh Dawson already had a Georgia offer, along with a Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, South Carolina and a bunch of others. Hard to believe his offer list could get that much better.

The others I'm not sure about. I'm sure it is a possibility they would look around. But some of them had some darn good ones when they picked Vandy. Schools like Nebraska, UNC, Stanford, etc...

No idea how long his sales act will work. It might not last long at all or it could last like Dabo's is at Clemson. Some guys are just naturals in recruiting and have the personality to be good salesmen no matter what. It's possible he could be one of those.

Thanks. I had not followed those guys closely and did not realize they had those offers. I guess We should assume they had committable offers to all of those.

Why would the staff all of a sudden just let up on Kimbrows recruitment? It makes no sense after telling him he's a #1 priority. Regardless of the circumstances, you just don't stop or back off, which is essentially the same thing, the state’s top player, especially when he's in position of need. We need to increnase, playmaking ability and team speed. He has both or he wouldn't have the offer list that he has. Every top school has offered, but UT backs off or stops recruiting him. I'm not buying it. These unsubstantiated rumors have to stop.

I think you are not far from seeing what is happening -- at least you and a couple of others here understand that there are some big holes in the "official" story line here in this thread.

You say that "we need to need to increase playmaking ability and team speed" and you are correct. But we need it at just about every position except at "small special teams and special situations player, good for a handful of appearances per game". That need has already been filled by D Young. The folks screaming over Kimbrow are usually the same ones who made such a screaming fuss over D Young last year. One said earlier that "you take as many of those as you can get". Really?? What an novel idea -- why not make your whole team with 5'-6" 150 lb players.

I also do not remember Dooley talking about needing another speedy player to fill the role D Young plays. We need speed at other positions, yes, but not in that role.

You also (along with most of the board) say that "every top school has offered" -- really?? Who are the top schools in the south?? Alabama, Florida, Auburn (on rare occasions), LSU and Florida State, right?? Alabama and Auburn have offered Kimbrow -- Florida, Florida State, and LSU have not offered him. Neither have Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon (who lives on team speed), Texas, Texas A&M, USC, or Ohio State, just to name a few.

Folks here point out that D Young has yet to play a down of college ball -- but neither has Kimbrow. Several have said that no "credible poster" has ever said that Kimbrow was not the top target, at least in Tennessee -- or something to that effect. Sorry, but that is ludicrous. Several who are far more "credible" than the posters here who said that have mentioned at least to the effect that we would not be bothered if we did not land Kimbrow

The bottom line is that Kimbrow is a limited use player, and we already have one to fill that role. We have a number of positions of far greater need for which we have to upgrade our talent -- positions which have to be filled with quality and speed on every down.

You keep sounding the Devrin Young charge, but I don't buy it. Whatever made us back off, it wasn't that we realized that he was too similar to Devrin Young, who hasn't even proven that he can ably fill the roll we wanted Kimbrow for. We haven't stopped recruiting D.J. Humphries because he was too similar to Antonio Richardson.

A team can use 5 Antonio Richardsons at a time. Only need one guy to touch the ball at a time.

Okay, so we didn't stop recruiting Jason Croom because we got DeAnthony Arnett and Vincent Dallas. (that analogy isn't perfect either, but it makes the point)

Really bad analogy. You have to have at least 10-12 top quality O-Line in the pipeline at all times but that is not even remotely the case for a small return burner who plays a very limited number of snaps every game. The O-Line positions have to be manned by high quality players every snap of every game. No comparison at all.

And you are correct that D Young has not proven that he can fill the role that we supposedly are recruiting Kimbrow for -- but then again, neither has Kimbrow, who has yet to play his senior season. At least they have had a chance to see D Young on the field the past few weeks, which is more than you can say about Kimbrow.

What I can say with utmost confidence is that we will not mourn the loss of Kimbrow -- maybe this board will, but the staff will not. I have said since long before all of this came up that Kimbrow made no sense and that I doubted that we were seriously pursuing him. If you take a step back, and look at the whole thing logically, that is the only answer that makes the whole Kimbrow story make sense (like why has he never given UT any consideration?? -- it is because we told him up front that we really could not use him) and it is the only answer that fits the true facts on the ground. We have far greater needs than Kimbrow.

The problem is that too many here have become personally invested in Kimbrow regardless of the facts. It then becomes a matter of ego.

D Young is not BK. Discussion over. We did not stop recruiting BK because of D Young. Discussion over. I'm glad I could clear that up for everyone.
