Who will Kimbrow choose?

Franklin is a good salesman it appears, but my questions...

1. What happens when some of those early kids pick up better offers, especially if the Georgia ones get UGA offers?
2. How many fliers will Vandy give Franklin?
3. How long cam his sales act last without improving win totals?

1. Josh Dawson already had a Georgia offer, along with a Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, South Carolina and a bunch of others. Hard to believe his offer list could get that much better.

The others I'm not sure about. I'm sure it is a possibility they would look around. But some of them had some darn good ones when they picked Vandy. Schools like Nebraska, UNC, Stanford, etc...

No idea how long his sales act will work. It might not last long at all or it could last like Dabo's is at Clemson. Some guys are just naturals in recruiting and have the personality to be good salesmen no matter what. It's possible he could be one of those.

Exactly. I dont see much difference. What do some people expect their staff to tell these kids? We suck but we still want you to come play for us?

They are trying to sell Vandy on a very similar message that Dooley and his staff are trying to sell Tennessee on.

I can see what you're saying. The complaint most people have on here is that some are giving Vandy WAY too much credit. They're getting recruits, yes, but it's not like they're in on MANY of the nation's best like we are. They're getting recruits faster but still won't end up with a better class than us, im willing to put any amount of money on it. Also, they can try to sell Vandy the same way that our staff is Tennessee, but lets look at facts here. If you wanna play football in college, or even the NFL for that matter, why not go to a place that knows how to win and has put many in the pros. That's not Vanderbilt.

I would be shocked and extremely disappointed and worried if Vandy ended up with a better class than Tennessee. That would be flat out bad.

They are definitely recruiting at a higher level with this class than I can ever remember them doing. Looking at their history as an all-time doormat they deserve some credit though for being able to sell some of these kids Vandy. It will probably help them be at least a little more competitive down the road, especially if they can turn it into something consistent. I certainly dont expect them to ever become what Stanford currently is.

99.99% chance they won't have a better class than UT. All of this Vandy talk is just a waste of time, IMO

I said it in another thread and I'll say it here....I'll make a ban bet with anyone that wants to that we end up ranked higher than Vandy on NSD

And as far as Kimbrow goes...I know this will sound like preemptive sour grapes...but I'm not remotely concerned about him if he choses to go to Vandy...

If he were to go to a team such as Bama, Auburn, or UF then he would be a legit threat to the future success of UT's football team...if he goes to Vandy then he will just get beat down by us for 4 years

I'm scared of what he could do to us on the field at one of the legit SEC schools...I'm not even remotely scared of what he could do to us while playing for Vandy

I don't think anyone is worried about Kimbrow (or Bowles, or Azubike, or anyone) hurting us at Vandy. People are worried that they're hurting us by not being at Tennessee.

Bowles maybe Kimbrow not so much. I don't think Bowles is going to Vandy anyway.

so Hubbs and the VQ staff have Kimbrow as 3rd on the big board but we arent recruiting him hard and would be content with him choosing another school...

Yeah that makes sense.

I can see Kimbrow at Vandy before Bowles. sounds more and more like Kimbrow is headed to Vandy. Hopefully we get Bowles, hes my favorite instate player. But even if we dont were in on many Wr's so it wouldnt kill us if he wasnt a Vol. Nothing against state players but some of the higher ranked ones recently havent faired too well. Brown has been a huge bust and Patrick Turner was a bust. Those are just 2 off the top of my head.

Hubbs and the boys are straight trollin'. It's too damn quiet over there. I know they know something. It'll probably be in tonight's war room. Building the suspense for a "guys it's true" moment.

Is it just me or does it seem like they have been like that all week?

THere have been a lot of questions asked that they never responded to or were very vague answering. Idk though. Like you said, tonight's War Room should be good.

I find there lack of answering disturbing. LOL. I don't know what's up but it seems a bit melodramatic for my taste. They have been ducking and avoiding the board a lot lately. I know they are constantly checking it. They are just choosing to let everyone twist in the wind.

Losing one running back won't make or break this class or this team. I believe Kimbrow has immense in-state talent and it would sting for him to go elsewhere, but with several good backs on the board, us locking up Young, Lane, and Smith and then having great shots at Green and Thornton next year, I don't think it will truly hurt us.

Vandy may get em, but can they hold on to them? Can Franklin do it year in an year out in the SEC? I doubt it

Kimbrow- Miss State- First offer, Mullen can offer a lot, better team then Vandy

Azubike- Vandy- He wants the education, the PT and its close to home. A good fit for him to be honest

Jelks- No way a Vol fan with a legit offer goes to Vandy.

Bowles- not worried. Whatsoever. Vol vs. Black Bears for him IMO

Mathers- Not Vandy

I have no inside knowledge but I could understand why we would back off. Maybe they have a silent or feel good about other '12 or '13 prospects. Maybe they don't want to risk Kimbrow's grades. Trust the coaches. They do this better then us.

The following statement is all my opnion and based on info I have read. I don't see Bowles going to Vandy. I think the warning signs were documented for Bowles and what is happening in his recruitment. He recites Dooley's closing speech in the one interview he has done since his last visit here, and we were warned over on VQ that he would go quiet for a while. I'm sorry, but I think he already gave Dooley a silent commit after his last visit.

When UT wins 8 regular season games this year, the recruits are gonna pile in once again. If these in-state recruits don't wanna play for the top dog in the state, that's ok. We'll continue on our merry way with outta state recruits that wanna wear the orange. Ill take a Marlin Lane (Florida) and an A.J. Johnson (Georgia) anytime, whether they're from Tennessee or not.

It sounds like the VQ guys don't even know what's going on anymore. lol

Tennessee kid many predict will commit next week just told me he won’t until late July at the earliest. Asked me not to mention his name.

Fortenberry:

I'm not sure. I think the kid probably reached out to Keith, he's got to know a lot of the guys.

In regard to Bowles and Jelks, I'm about 99% positive it is neither of them. Bowles and I talked last night and he's still planning on waiting some more before he does anything. Jelks is the same, he plans on taking multiple officials.

I'm not sure what's going on with Kimbrow, to be honest.

So the good news is that it doesn't look like Bowles or Jelks would be a part of the 4-5 instate kids set to commit to Vandy.

I'm pretty sure now the player Keith tweeted about would be Azubike.

Azubike has been a lot more vocal regarding his process than Kimbrow so I would have to agree. Kimbrow doesn't reach out a lot.

Has to be CA. Batey hasn't made much noise at all in his recruitment. I'm starting to think that someone started pumping out bad info from the Vandy camp.
