Who will Kimbrow choose?

Am I wrong here? Correct me if so, but how does this kid qualify for Vandy or stick in school once he gets there? I may be biased here. I admit, but it's VANDY.

This is dumb on both fronts. Kimbrow needs to be running behind a line like what we'll have. He's a back that needs protection and isn't built for a lot of SEC style punishment. If we have stopped recruiting Kimbrow and Redmond that would be dumb. Both bring speed and in state speed at that. I personally wouldn't mind seeing both at CB because I feel Kimbrow could develop into a Cliff Harris style CB. Redmond is a very good sized CB with that 4.2 speed. We need some real cover CBs in this class.

If we've stopped recruiting Redmond and Kimbrow

:eek:lol:

Yall are not gonna like me at all on VN if this is true

If so this staff is making some weird moves. Going out of state like Kiffin for players. When he has some legit talent he needs to lock down inside his own state. Two 4.2 guys that are tearing up camps everywhere, what the hell is the problem?

If the staff did make such a move, it may seem weird only because we don't know the whole story. If CDD has backed off, I suspect there is much more to it than we will likely know in the near future.

Why do you feel that way?? In the first place, he is not the "best player in the state". Robinson probably takes that position, but that is a moot point.

The real point is that even if he is the best player in the state, he does not add much to our team. How many very small backs who can only be used a few times a game can we afford to use up scholarships on?? We already have D Young and Kimbrow is a clone of D Young. If Kimbrow is the better of the two, it is only marginal. Do you want to waste a scholarship for that??

I doubt we want him at all, if the truth be known. Yes, we have to say all the right things, but when it comes down to it, we do not need him. I believe he knows that.

Terrible post. Worst post of the year on this site. Thank god you aren't a coach at Tennessee or this program would be screwed.

They dont want a kid because of Devrin Young? Young hasn't even played a down. He might be a total bust.
This program needs a speed back in the worst way. Dooley has said so himself publicly. Who better than Kimbrow?

It's amazing how players are good in some people's minds on here that nobody but Tennessee wants, but a guy that everyone in the country wants isn't a big deal at all.

Some of you are way out of whack with your blind homerism.

Everyone is saying we backed off, but no one is giving a reason. We need spped on the field and that is what both Redmond and Kimbrow bring. What is the reason behind it?

Tennessee did not back off at all.

First off, according to some on here Tennessee apparently backs off everyone when it becomes obvious they aren't going to get the guy.

Secondly, nobody that has an ounce of credibility has said they backed off. The only things you see from the reliable people on VQ, 247, etc.. is how much Dooley wants to add a speed back and how much they like Kimbrow.

They were just out-recruited. I know that is a hard concept for people to believe on this site but it's true.

Exactly how I feel as well.

I love Kimbrow's speed but I'd rather have an every down back any day of the week. We'll find another good back to go along with Cross.

The problem is they dont need an every down back. They have plenty of those. They need a speed back to compliment an every down back. Dooley has that said publicly a number of times in the last year.

Neal is a speed back...although I'd like to get a speed and a power back every year.

You know they didn't back off.

They were just out-recruited.

I know it is an impossible concept for some on here to believe so they start making up stuff like they backed off, etc.. when it's flat out not true.

The funniest of all being the ones who claim they dont need Kimbrow because of Devrin Young.... What in the hell has he proved yet? Nothing. Even if he had you take guys like that every single year because this is the SEC.

Neal is definitely not a speed back. At least not in Kimbrow's class.

But I do agree that I'd like to see them get 1 of each in every recruiting class as well.

Thought he was one of the fastest players on the team?

I have to agree with ya on Kimbrow tho. From what Ive read about him he's lighting fast.

montrell spitting that hot fire...but he is right. young hasnt proven anything to pass up on kimbrow

First off every school is always looking to increase their level of talent and their team speed. And that doesn't mean only carrying one guy on your entire roster like this, especially when they tend to be smaller type guys and more injury prone. You want as many guys like this as possible on your roster for that very reason.

And yeah it is just idiot to think they would back off a guy because of another player in a different recruiting class that has never played a down of college football and is totally unproven. Especially one that is 5'6 160ish and could very well get injured at any point in time.

yea you have to reload every year..why not have a kickoff return unit with kimbrow and young..and you can rotate them on the offense so you always have that homerun threat on the field..

you can use both

He could be. But they dont have much Kimbrow type speed at all on the current roster.

Yeah he has dominated at pretty much every combine he's been to since last year. Very impressive.

But according to some on here Tennessee doesn't want him. They want the under the radar guys that nobody else wants or offers.

I agree completely on all your points.

If this program ever wants to get back in the Top 4 or 5 in the SEC they need to reload in every recruiting class. Not back off a talent like Kimbrow because of someone in a different recruiting class. Makes no sense.

I kind of get the feeling that if Montrell was the coach we would have a class full of 4 and 5 stars and about 4 of them would qualify. But hey they sure would look good at some community college in mississippi or kansas.

Definately dont need Fulmer and Kiffin pt 2.

No doubt, and by the way when was the last time UT has won anything relevent. I know we have tradition and we have great facilities, but I don't know a bunch of top tier players that want to get smacked around by Florida and Alabama among others every year. We need to produce on the field before we can truly produce in recruiting. Look what a NC or a good QB on payroll can do for your recruiting. We took a step in the right direction last year, (should hve won at LSU and UNC in the bowl game) and Dooley will get us there without getting us put on probation. Just relax and be patient and good things will come.
