Where is this coming from? I hope it is real....

There is also a Danny O'Brien who is a skinny QB at Maryland. He dominates the Google.

"No longer a lock for Tennessee"

"Dan O'Brien is now considering three additional schools."

-per ESPN rumors

Is there any substance to this?

I get the feeling that there's some guy out there who's sole purpose in this life is to prevent top notch DT's from coming to UT. His contract runs from 2002-2067

We may not have a choice but to play them
Freshmen are playing more and more now than ever because of the numbers and scholly rules.

***Danny O’Brien: Tennessee is no longer the leader for the four-star defensive tackle from Flint (Mich.) Powers Catholic.

The Vols remain strongly in the mix for 6-foot-3, 283-pound O’Brien’s top four, along with Alabama, Michigan and Michigan State. He plans to visit all four this summer, and added that he’s still listening to several other schools.
Michigan State is the latest program to make a move with O’Brien, who recently stopped by the East Lansing campus for the Spartans spring game.

“I really like Coach D a lot,” O’Brien stated. “Coach (Mark) Dantonio really shows me he’s not here to pressure me and he’ll ride it out all the way until I’m ready to make my decision. He’s not the kind of guy that if I’m going to offer you, you have to commit now. He’s a real relaxed guy and a players’ coach.”

some guys just like to keep the recruiting sites in the dark because they like the attention and they don't want their recruitment to shut down. If a guy comes out and says "I like X school so much that I'm not considering any others," then other schools will skip over them (unless they're very highly rated).

IMO O'Brien is just enjoying the process and making an informed decision. He is comfortable with the coaching staff and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon (hopefully). UT is in good shape and will continue to be until he makes a decision. I'm not too worried about this one.

Hubbs has continued to say that Tennessee is the leader for O'Brien & that he will take some visits & see some other schools but Tennessee is the team to beat.

Defensive Tackle was my favorite position group from the camp, led by Sheldon Day, Ondre Pipkins and Danny O'Brien. All three were impressive.

-Steve Wiltfong(247sports) posted this in a thread about pipkins and the Nike camp that happened this weekend.

Danny is still a UT lean however the gap isn't as big as it once was...if today was NSD I have no doubt he would be a Vol.

Thanks for the info GT...that is what I assumed to be the case. As long as we show him what he wants on his visit then I think we will win in the end. Gonna have to work hard on this one though and rightfully so, Dan is a player.

Why does it seem that whenever we get in on a prospect, The Enemy comes calling all of a sudden? It's like they're our shadow. It's annoying.

:bammer:

Because Dooley and staff don't know talent and don't know how to recruit....:)

Seriously though, Saban has praised Dooley's ability to recognize talent. I'm not surprise NS takes notice when UT pursues a guy hard.
