Did he say that he wants to? Or does he want to compete for the job? My point is that it is important to every athlete. Of course priorites may push it to a lesser importantance. I'm not saying it's the most important to every athlete because it isn't. But to say it's not important is hogwash. That's all. Ive never heard a player go "I want to go to a place where I can play my junior year and not worry about playing too much until then."

No one wants to, but there are kids who understand they need to.

DT is a position where true freshmen typically never start or play much unless they're athletic freaks like Ndamukong Suh.

Suh was redshirted his freshman year iirc. I'm pretty sure he was there 5 years. 4 at the least.

It is extremely difficult to get playing time at DT as a freshman.

He was a medical redshirt his freshman year. He played in Nebraska's first 2 games that season until he blew out his knee.

Not being ready physically is not going to matter here. You come here and you are going to see the field as a DT. There are more important things than playing time to consider, that's why you see guys going to somewhere with a loaded depth chart, but early playing time is important to any player you would want to have on your team. It's not always the most important, but it is a factor they consider. To say otherwise is asinine.

Like in my NCAA 06 game it was one of like 6 factors to pull recruits. You'd have to try different tactics each week to pull individual recuits. Program Prestige was usually good enough for my kids.

I imagine that most of the freshman that played last year weren't college ready but when you don't have a choice you put them in and get them college ready. Our DT position is very thin and we lose some after this year. I still say that the majority of recruits want to see the field as early as possible.

I think perseverance is what's going to pay off for UT here. We just can't drop the ball until he wants to decide. This staff hasn't given me a reason to doubt them in that respect. I really like where we are at with him.

Everytime I create a prospect from Knoxville, they commit to Va Tech or Vandy.
