'10 JUCO QB Cameron Newton

Well, it's the same taste I get when I think of Nick Stephens or Nick Lamaison taking the field against UT Martin next year.

We do not have an incoming freshman who can start from day one, Newton has proven to be something of a justifiable discipline issue, and Simms just doesn't feel warm and fuzzy inside to me, either. But it's the best we can hope for.

How can you judge Bray so completely already? He has the arm NOW to make all the throws, and most every recruiting expert in the country has him pegged as having the highest ceiling in this years QB class. Most people didnt expect players like Manning or Phillip Rivers to be Freshman starters and they did OK for themselves. Wait to see the kid in a college practice at least before you write him off. I dont think any true freshman QB is ever actually "ready" to start at a big time D1 school.....but if he is the most talented of the bunch, I want him out there. He is MUCH more touted and, IMO, talented than Eric Ainge as well.

I knew the Doug Mathews announcement was crap. Not saying he won't end up at MSU, but Doug Mathews isn't going to be the one to break it.

Newton will not get an offer from ut. Chaney went to his game last week and found out at the game he would not play the first half for disciplinary reasons. This is definitely not what kiffin wants. He blew his chance.

On the recruiting front, Newton recently scheduled his official visit to Mississippi State to check out their annual tilt against Ole Miss.

"Really, I think it will end up being Tennessee and Kansas State for my other two visits," Newton said. "Those teams are all playing big games against top teams every week and I will be visiting them after the season."

Per Scout...

I think we are giving him some fear of loss and he is who we really want. No source just sales thought. If we wanted Simms all we have to do is say here is your offer. Miss. St. and Kansas St. are real options for him.

Well the suspension didn't really help his case....

Could Cameron Newton really receive an offer from us still? I mean why take an official visit if he thinks we're not still interested in him and such? Why would we even pay for his trip if we weren't interested still? Could the recruiting experts here shed some light? Do we still have interest in Newton?
