But it was not just one quarter read next post lol

Didn't see that.. I thought it was a situation where they held him out and didn't let him start. I agree it didn't look to good especially with UT staff down there to evaluate, but it still may not be much of anything.

I just want one to be on board at this point. The more I. Think of bray as our starter in 10. The more I freak out.

If we get him, well have a chance to see "On the Field Performance," won't we? I'm just stating that I think he has the potential to outshine Tebow...he was just as highly rated in HS.

Kiffin recently said, "we need to recruit our own Tebow." If our staff can coach him up...we'll have one, and he'll make a better NFL QB prospect IMHO.

If you're reffering to the general skill set they have in common, I don't think that's what Kiffin is after when he says "we need our own tebow". I don't think Newton is the guy we need in our offense. I'm not denying that he's incredibly gifted and really, if we got him I think he should start because he would be the most talented guy we had but he isn't the "tebow" of our system.

The funny part about CLK's comment was that he was just talking about how our D shut down their passing game, yet Tebow was still able to get 1st downs with his feet. That's when he immediately said, "The only answer I have for that is we need to recruit our own Tebow."

I don't have any illusions about this team going to the spread all of a sudden. I just took it that he meant we need to recruit our own QB (that fits our system) that can put the team on his shoulders and pick up 1st downs, as Tebow did in that game, with his feet...once the D has taken the passing game away

I see what you're saying, so in summary we need that "playmaker" quarterback. Maybe Newton is the closest thing to that guy right now. I do think Bray will be that guy in a year or two down the road though; More like a Tom Brady "playmaker rather than a Tebow of course.

Bray could....but I think guys like Blake Bell might fit that "Playmaker" role better...as he is very mobile, yet a bonifide Pocket Passer.

Newton is the closest thing to that, in the short term. I just wish I knew what the coaches were thinking. I'm a bit troubled with him still having "issues," but I think this staff can handle it. They've proved conclusively that they don't put up with any BS. This team has kept their nose pretty clean compared to many past years, so if they bought in...I think Cam will too, knowing this is his last and best shot. He better not blow it.

Down the road (2011, 2012) I don't even see mobility as a real essential attribute of our qb's. I understand your point though, I would take mobility in a QB anyday if all the same passing abilities were still there but I don't see it mattering really with Bray. I'm a firm believer in Bray, possibly partial and maybe to a fault, but I think he'll fill the mold of a "playmaker" for us.

That being said, NEXT year we probably will need a QB with the ability to take off and move around in the pocket as our o-line is sure to be thin and depleted. That guy is Newton and I agree, if our coaches still want Newton I'm not worried about discipline at all.

When will we offer Newton? I could have missed that we may have already in fact offered, in that case just say so.

The staff will not be offering Newton! He was informed that Tennessee Coaches would be in attendence for the game ahead of time, AND he got suspended after he knew UT was coming to eval! I was someone who said they need to offer but after that, NO! We do not need a drama queen at QB like "vick"

No. The staff does not think he fits this system or can manage a game as well as Simms...

EVERYONE close to the staff. Hubbs, Lewis, LWS, etc. There has not been one single reliable person say that we are going to offer Newton. They all say Simms...

Here comes that vomit taste again

Well, it's the same taste I get when I think of Nick Stephens or Nick Lamaison taking the field against UT Martin next year.

We do not have an incoming freshman who can start from day one, Newton has proven to be something of a justifiable discipline issue, and Simms just doesn't feel warm and fuzzy inside to me, either. But it's the best we can hope for.

"warm and fuzzy inside to me..."

Dude, I would so rephrase that. :)
