If we get him, well have a chance to see "On the Field Performance," won't we? I'm just stating that I think he has the potential to outshine Tebow...he was just as highly rated in HS.
Kiffin recently said, "we need to recruit our own Tebow." If our staff can coach him up...we'll have one, and he'll make a better NFL QB prospect IMHO.
The funny part about CLK's comment was that he was just talking about how our D shut down their passing game, yet Tebow was still able to get 1st downs with his feet. That's when he immediately said, "The only answer I have for that is we need to recruit our own Tebow."If you're reffering to the general skill set they have in common, I don't think that's what Kiffin is after when he says "we need our own tebow". I don't think Newton is the guy we need in our offense. I'm not denying that he's incredibly gifted and really, if we got him I think he should start because he would be the most talented guy we had but he isn't the "tebow" of our system.

I don't have any illusions about this team going to the spread all of a sudden. I just took it that he meant we need to recruit our own QB (that fits our system) that can put the team on his shoulders and pick up 1st downs, as Tebow did in that game, with his feet...once the D has taken the passing game away
Bray could....but I think guys like Blake Bell might fit that "Playmaker" role better...as he is very mobile, yet a bonifide Pocket Passer.I see what you're saying, so in summary we need that "playmaker" quarterback. Maybe Newton is the closest thing to that guy right now. I do think Bray will be that guy in a year or two down the road though; More like a Tom Brady "playmaker rather than a Tebow of course.

Newton is the closest thing to that, in the short term. I just wish I knew what the coaches were thinking. I'm a bit troubled with him still having "issues," but I think this staff can handle it. They've proved conclusively that they don't put up with any BS. This team has kept their nose pretty clean compared to many past years, so if they bought in...I think Cam will too, knowing this is his last and best shot. He better not blow it.
Here comes that vomit taste again
"warm and fuzzy inside to me..."Well, it's the same taste I get when I think of Nick Stephens or Nick Lamaison taking the field against UT Martin next year.
We do not have an incoming freshman who can start from day one, Newton has proven to be something of a justifiable discipline issue, and Simms just doesn't feel warm and fuzzy inside to me, either. But it's the best we can hope for.
