There are LBs I like much better than Luc. Jordan Hicks, Josh Shirley. We don't have much of a shot at either, but just for comparisons sake...Also Bruce Irvin. I like him better than Luc.

I know we don't have a shot but this is always who I thought was the best LB in this class, at least as far as the HS class is concerned. I think Irvin might be the most naturally gifted of any, HS or JUCO.

That's a good point but another knock on him IMO. He has relatively little upside.

W T F ?

So hes hit his limit eh? Well someone should tell him to not waste his time? There is so much more than physical size as far as upside. He has not worked out yet with a good S&C coach and his lateral movement can be so much better. Learning how to read plays and just gaining experience period. He has unbelievable potential and has a lot to work on. Hes only been taking football serious for what 2 years? And he has little upside? Seriously, just wow. He may have the most upside of anyone just for the sheer fact he is so physically gifted already and now he just needs to learn. The others mentioned are fast, great, but they have much more experience than Luc does.

I think what Sab is saying is that Luc is a good LB but might not have the potential as some other LBs in the long run. Luc could possibly come in a be an impact player for any program next year, but what you get next year is what you might get all four years.

RM for us came in as a stud his freshman year and keeps getting better, than DH came in with alot of upside and developed. I think Luc falls in between them both. The right coaches may change that, but right now he dominates games with pure athletic ability and that won't cut it in college, especially with the athletes in the SEC.

I also think that J Hicks is the best LB in the class.

I gotta disagree with this. I don't think Luc is a guy that will have an immediate impact. Middle linebacker is a tough position to learn in Monte's system and I'm not even sure Luc's skill set fits MLB in a Tampa 2.

I honestly think he may grow into a DE. I just don't see enough from his film to show that he could be more than a blitzer off the edge as a LB. His film reminds me too much of Chris Donald. He looks kind of stiff in the hips and he just bowls people over. He isn't fluid. He's not a form tackler. He's not fast-twitch. He seems to get by because he completely dominates the opposition from an athletic standpoint. That won't cut it when everyone is as athletic as you are. But what do I know?

You know how sometimes coaches go after high-profile players just because they are high-profile and can have an impact on the program from a perception point-of-view? (it's talked about in Meat Market) I think this may be one of those cases.

only part i disagree with. I think after size... that is his main strength.. He plows the hips, wraps up, and lifts up. Great form! Not confident about him plugging into Monte's Scheme. Hope he isn't a Donald i think FL has more talent to play against than TN.

just so i understand you...you're basically saying that luc has less upside because he's already sculpted himself into a rhinocerous with shoulder pads. i have absolutely no worries about monte finding a way to make his skill set work in his defense, and i also don't think that you can detract from a kid for being too good in high school. ray lewis is a pretty big middle linebacker, do you think monte would want him?

Rivals radio said this morning that they wouldn't be surprised if he announced gators any day. They said he hasn't said anything but they thought he was a lock.
Hopefully this weekend will change is mind

imo Hicks is the best overall LB in this class. But if Luc can learn how to cover the pass and move around the field, he will be ridiculous...

I thought Luc got great reviews on his pass coverage at the camps this summer.

I always thought that was his one big knock. Watch his camp video on Rivals. He covers the guys fairly well, but he just doesn't look like he moves very fluid. He seems stiff. You'll know what I'm talking about if you watch that vid...

This is exactly why I think he has the most upside of all of the LBers. Hes a freak but his coverage and movement needs a ton of improvement.

Are you talking about the sling and shoot video? He makes a sick diving interception where he looks anything but stiff. I understand what you're saying but I think it's more because he's 230 and he's chasing kids that weigh 150. He keeps up with them and has great footwork.

I don't remember him making an INT in the vid I watched. But in the vid I seen they were not wearing pads and one of the WRs went up to catch a pass and Luc still took his legs out haha. He takes no prisoners. Maybe it is where he is so big. Something just looks off...

Yeah, the int is a little later in that same video. I think it's because he's so muscular. He looks like he's wearing pads and the other ones aren't. He's one giant muscle (yeah, I said it).

He aint a gator lock, he wants to give us a chance, and if UT wins and the stadium is chaos, look out!

WTH? "Stiff in the hips, isn't fluid, not a form tackler, not fast twitch."

Are you an NFL scout?

He isn't a Florida lock but things are looking really good for us right now. It is starting to sound more and more like Florida leads for Ronald Powell, Jeff Luc, and Jordan Hicks.
