That definitely sounds like a Trojan Horse....uh hum *cough*...I mean Homer.
Yeah...Kiffin said Leinart was very close to transferring to a smaller level program cause he looked like crap in practice.
He barely beat out Cassell, so what does that tell you? He turned out to turn it on when the lights came on.
May explain why he has been a bust so far with the Cardinals (much like Vince Young...how ironic). Cassell...jury still out. Same with Sanchez...getting drafted high doesn't necessarily spell NFL success. See exhibit A. Vince Young, Aklilli Smith, Ryan Leaf (even Heath Shuler), etc.
As it stands, only Carson Palmer has stood out. Tee Martin got to the league (and fizzled out after a few years), Eric Ainge is teammates with Sanchez...and it's yet to be seen if he will stay ahead of Sanchez on the depth chart.
Given all of these question marks at QB in the NFL, just how does it spell a USC-NFL success story, especially when you consider our coach was the one who had a lot to do with grooming them and making them successful? They have only one proven NFL guy who can't even hold Peyton's jock strap in the historical landscape of the NFL.
Their story has little more luster than our own...and I'll put our greatest against their greatest any day of the week.
And for this writer to knock on the SEC, and inadvertently point out how lame the PAC-10 competition is comparatively, is quite funny actually.
That's why we got the fat TV contract and will be seen more on national TV than USC.
His argument is like saying you should play in the Arena Football League, cause it's far too competitive and rigorous in the NFL...go figure? :fool:
