I was interested to see if Jesse still had the rock on his myspace and when i was reading what he said about espn coming to his house i noticed he said he felt betrayed... This could obviously mean anything, the kid does have a personal life, but wondering if it has anything to do with his recruitment:question:

I still wonder if it was his coach that he trusted not to tell anyone the decision he made last week.. and all the sudden his coach supposedly stated he would commit at the 7 on 7 and he was going to USC.. It could be anything that made him feel that way, but it is odd how he decided last week, he told 1 person his coach and then reports came out that the coach said........
:stop:

Ok...so, by your logic, you have no reason to believe Fulmer ever did any wrong. Neither did Clawson, right? After all, you're not on staff, how would you know? Has that stopped you from criticizing any coach here? Nope, not at all.
Your argument is a massive FAIL

And so is this one...at some point they did offer:

Scout.com: Football Recruiting
Munchie Legaux - Football Recruiting

I am pretty sure it has been confirmed he received the scholly offer from the previous staff.

don't know why i'm going to waste my time with this but i will. This "recruiting over people" is a term that fans have created because they know nothing of recruiting or how coaches think. There is no such thing as recruiting over people for lk. He recruits kids who he thinks can play in his system and he expects them to succeed. Not worrying about scroggins because you are expecting some big qb in '11 who could very well never come is indescribably ridiculous. This is so stupid.

Got a link, or just someone's opinion? Thought I heard we BACKED OFF the offer after his camp here? How do you back off something you never gave in the first place?

While he is still waiting on an offer from the home-state Tigers, another Southeastern Conference team entered the mix this past week.

“Tennessee just offered me, and that is my latest,” he said. “The coaches said that I am the type of quarterback they are looking for, and they need one in this class.

On Scroggins... 3 clues point to Knoxville Reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1."I made my decision last week," Scroggins offered. "I know there was a lot of talk about me announcing something at the seven-on-seven tournament in Oregon, but I want my dad to be at my announcement so that is why I am announcing it this week."

His father has known his decision and he suddenly states that distance is not a factor (a father ultimately supporting his son's decision over his own wishes). This process has been very emotional for their family and he wants his father by his side for the ending!

2. Scroggins will make his announcement on ESPN.

How many kids announce via ESPN IN JULY? Why would ESPN give a flying F about the #100 player in America choosing the home town school? Now announcing UT would certainly garner attention....

3. Bailey.... It is now known that Bailey had already informed USC coaches of his decision weeks ago. I believe that Bailey has been trying to convince Scroggins to choose USC and they could announce together as they had originally envisioned. Scroggins admits his decision was made prior to the Oregon camp yet Bailey suddenly announces alone....

I'm telling you fellas, Scroggins will be a Vol come Wednesday!

It is certain that he will be a Vol, but I know no one will believe my word, so I have positive news that I gained from a source out in Cali.

Scroggins has a new leader at the moment that he chose during the last three days or so and he has been back and forth between two teams with the other being far behind. He is all Vol guys.

Let's forget about that and the visions that I have been having about him.

He has a chance to start as a true freshman and play an entire career in the SEC at a big time program under two proven college OC gurus in Kiffin and Chaney. Really, from a pure logical standpoint, the choice is obvious. Of course it's going to be tough growing up in Cali and being a USC fan, but when the chips fall, he has to do what's best for his career and that's not at USC. Not too mention the kid has a humongous ego. He is telling himself I can beat out those guys at USC and start. But that other voice is saying yeah, but what if...and you will be on TV almost every game immediately at UT with the recent SEC contracts. Also, the idea of possibly waiting to star at USC doesn't fit his mindset IMO. His father will say this and that, but it will be his decision ultimately.
Well, I consider it a done deal that he's a VOL since you can read his mind. He's USC.

There seems to be a strong consensus between SC and UT fans that UF is the worst option.

This has to be a two program choice, and the pros and cons of both are fairly well-known by now.

I pushed him last night and he was offering nothing. My guess is that he is going to say Southern Cal. But that is just my guess. I think his family is very important to him and I think he ends up staying closer to home.

Oh wow i thought you was talkin about JSmith lol you about got me mad lol

I've been reading the USC rivals board lately...I don't see how he ends up a Trojan, Most of the people on there agree that he would come in a red shirt and then back up Matt for 2-3 years...Just don't understand or see why he would want that, but the Cali lifestyle might be a huge factor idk.

There's an interesting article on the Bleacher Report site questioning whether the Trojan empire may be over.

Is the Trojan Empire Rule Over? | Bleacher Report

I hinted that UT's stronghold on talent between 1995-2001 was really hurt when we failed to win the SEC championship. For the Trojans, winning the conference championship really isn't all that satisfying as winning it certainly doesn't give them a slot in the NC.

Unless the SEC CG is an upset, our conference champion is the national champion. That's what the BCS era has proven with the exception of Auburn being denied its shot with an undefeated team. Perhaps that's the year that the SEC Champ would have lost, but they weren't given the chance.

There is a huge difference between playing in the SEC and playing in the Pac 10. SC would be an awesome SEC team and certainly capable of playing with our best teams year in and year out. One reason is that they have the depth to stay strong through a brutal conference schedule. Still, when you've got the talent they have and you don't win national championships, questions follow. That's why we have a new coach.

I bet these kids hate Hubbs.
At least he is still talking to Hubbs

Here we got almost 8500 posts on this kid and I have to try and do a scavenger hunt for a thread on Jscroggs on the USC board.

That Bleacher Report article was dead on. 'Cause we've had so much trouble placing players in the NFL here.

Seriously, you might as well link whatever Gator blog does the Fulmer Cup.

That definitely sounds like a Trojan Horse....uh hum *cough*...I mean Homer.

Yeah...Kiffin said Leinart was very close to transferring to a smaller level program cause he looked like crap in practice.
He barely beat out Cassell, so what does that tell you? He turned out to turn it on when the lights came on.

May explain why he has been a bust so far with the Cardinals (much like Vince Young...how ironic). Cassell...jury still out. Same with Sanchez...getting drafted high doesn't necessarily spell NFL success. See exhibit A. Vince Young, Aklilli Smith, Ryan Leaf (even Heath Shuler), etc.

As it stands, only Carson Palmer has stood out. Tee Martin got to the league (and fizzled out after a few years), Eric Ainge is teammates with Sanchez...and it's yet to be seen if he will stay ahead of Sanchez on the depth chart.

Given all of these question marks at QB in the NFL, just how does it spell a USC-NFL success story, especially when you consider our coach was the one who had a lot to do with grooming them and making them successful? They have only one proven NFL guy who can't even hold Peyton's jock strap in the historical landscape of the NFL.
Their story has little more luster than our own...and I'll put our greatest against their greatest any day of the week.
And for this writer to knock on the SEC, and inadvertently point out how lame the PAC-10 competition is comparatively, is quite funny actually.
That's why we got the fat TV contract and will be seen more on national TV than USC.
His argument is like saying you should play in the Arena Football League, cause it's far too competitive and rigorous in the NFL...go figure? :fool:

It's probably the media in general. These recruits are basically trying to keep and secret while the media is trying to get a scoop. Both sides know the deal.

On one side is a professional while the other is a kid just trying to pick where he's going to play college football.
