Did you think that about Bryce Petty or Tahj Boyd after we let them go?
Petty...yes. Boyd, no. We could've pulled M.Brown and Orson Charles if we had kept Boyd. Not having a marquee QB on the roster or commit list is just too much for a WR to overlook.

Plus, the staff tried to get back in with Boyd after he won the Army All-American Bowl Co-MVP on offense, but it's impossible to cross a bridge after you've burned it. Letting Boyd go was the 1st major cock-up by CLK, and one I bet he's wishing he could re-do...at least from a depth perspective. Everybody was trying to downplay his move on Boyd, and I remember telling friends, just wait til the AA Bowl, and you'll see he ain't nobody's punk. That's EXACTLY what happened...he showed out.
People here are still largely in denial, but in a year or so, when he's tearing it up at Clemson, I wonder what kind of excuses people will come up with.

"Well, his knee was injured."
Wrong!!! If Jesse hurts his knee this fall, are we going to toss a commitment from him too? HELL NO!!!

"Well, he just doesn't FIT our system." Wrong, again!!! He is no different, fit-wise, than Scroggins, Brunetti or 90% of the other prospects out there, who play in quasi-spread style offenses.

Stop it with the stupid excuses, already. Why is it so hard to accept that our new HC made a rash, implusive decision before he had all of his staff in place? We've all made decisions we wish we could take back, and this is one of them I bet CLK desperately wishes he had back.
Boyd is easily...easily as good a prospect as Lamaison and most of the other prospects we've offered since (Munchie, Brunetti, etc).
Kiffin was probably supremely confident that he'd land a Barkely type of commitment in this class. We'll see if that is the case.

Cam newton's juco passes a lot from what I've seen and runs pro sets as well as sets from shotgun....So yes, I think Cam would do great here. He just happens to be able to use his feet if all else fails.

We got Nuke, Teague, and Green without a QB in the last class. M. Brown and Charles were always going to be Dawgs even if Kiffin had kept Boyd.

Clearly, you should have been hired on the staff, as you obviously understand who fits Kiffin's system better than Kiffin himself.

And we have not offered Munchie, BTW.

Time will tell if letting Boyd go was a mistake.

It WAS! but who cares lets move on it's in the past there's nuttin we can do about it!

Hubbs:
"I don't have a good feeling for the Vols"
and this was after talking with him last night on the phone.

Maybe he will be ok at CLEMSON. Boyd to me didn't seem like the type of kid that could take a shot from a SEC linebacker and want to get up. Did Clemson have a big WR recruiting class last year or are they in the process this year? I want to believe we let Boyd go cause we wanted Heaps to know this was his team for four years, but that didn't work out. I just don't have a feeling about JS ever being able to win a football game with a big play maybe not lose the game just not sure he could win you that big one. JMO

I don't think Kiffin had a specific 2010 QB in mind when he let Boyd go. He just felt that he would get a better QB who fits the system better. JMO

Sab and the recruiting forum can’t wait.

I was raised not to argue with fools so I'll just say that your post is evidence that you obviously have no idea who you're talking to or my post history here. I apologize if I was raining on your thread padding parade buddy but it would take a heckuva lot less time to post the time of the announcement a few times than to check in various threads for Scroggins news. I'm sure you don't have anything better to do and you got to start a thread like a big boy so Congrats!

I didn't start this thread, Sir GripesAlot. Therefore your post is key evidence how much (or lack thereof) intellect goes into your statements.

Daaaaang every time I look up this thread is getting closer and closer to BB's I think there's 68 more pages intil we reach it!

Everyone needs to realize even if he signs here he may never start a game ever. Especially if things go as planned with a '11 QB. 100 percent that we recruit over him next year. So everyone relax.

Don't know why I'm going to waste my time with this but I will. This "recruiting over people" is a term that fans have created because they know nothing of recruiting or how coaches think. There is no such thing as recruiting over people for LK. He recruits kids who he thinks can play in his system and he expects them to succeed. Not worrying about Scroggins because you are expecting some big QB in '11 who could very well never come is indescribably ridiculous. This is so stupid.

I just am tired of people arguing about where the kid will go. When wednesday rolls around then we'll finally be able to quit speculating

I know the original BB thread was closed just before 10k posts. I don't know the number of pages, we have different options for number of posts per page. I go with 50 myself.

I think we hit 10k here by Wednesday, with all the JS posts combined. There are at least 3 different JS threads right now.

This one

One saying he will announce at 3:30 Wed

The other one saying he will announce Wednesday

I think there are also a few other Scroggins threads too.

I was interested to see if Jesse still had the rock on his myspace and when i was reading what he said about espn coming to his house i noticed he said he felt betrayed... This could obviously mean anything, the kid does have a personal life, but wondering if it has anything to do with his recruitment:question:

We need Scroggins,I don't know why people try to dispute that just because we think he is going to USC.

Remember the other night I said I was afraid some people are sugar coating it in case we don't get him... That way the staff doesn't look like they played it wrong with him and Rettig... Having said that some folks really think we could do better, but some simply don't want to admit the staff may have muffed up... I just hope people don't start bashing him if we don't get him as he seems like a really good kid.. I still think Kiff and crew will make it work with or without him, but I hope he does commit as I'm with you, we really need him....:good!:

Ok...so, by your logic, you have no reason to believe Fulmer ever did any wrong. Neither did Clawson, right? After all, you're not on staff, how would you know? Has that stopped you from criticizing any coach here? Nope, not at all.
Your argument is a massive FAIL

And we have not offered Munchie, BTW.
And so is this one...at some point they did offer:

Scout.com: Football Recruiting
Munchie Legaux - Football Recruiting

+1. People take some little tidbit of information (like the 2011 class is supposed to be stronger...meaning MORE prospects...not necessarily better at the top) and they run with it...taking it wherever they please.
Scroggins with a year and a half head start is not going to get "recruited over." If he's getting it done, then the other guys sit. Pretty simple concept
