I don't think anybody is trying to say that it's going to happen . . . just that stuff happens sometimes.

I wouldn't disagree with that at all. Some people seem to be expecting it though. That's not realistic. We can't just assume that we are going to get one of these guys to de-commit late in the process. We have to get what we can now. I anticipate it being a long time before we add a second QB in this class and it may be a guy we haven't heard of or it could be a guy like Cam Newton. Cam Newton would make a lot of sense at this point.
I mean if I was the coaches. I would say hey Cam if you come to UT we promise you an honest shot at QB. But we need to know you are ok playing WR/TE if you don't win the spot. If he says yes I would offer him on the spot.
People just get a little carried away after seeing the way Kiffin was able to come in so late last year and flip a few guys.

I doubt that recruitment would last very long.
I totally agree. We cant expect to get 5-6 4* and higher guys to flip their commitment to us on NSD every year. If we depended on that, we would get left out in the cold a LOT. I would not be surprised, however, if we have success on the field and Crompton throws for 3000+ yards, 25TDs and 10 INTs, if we did have a big name QB start looking at us seriously again.
You aren't going to land him that way. Cam Newton is a talented QB. He will play QB somewhere. I don't even think anyone will suggest him playing another position.
Not really. Learning the under center movements, maybe a challenge for him. Is he great enough of a player to do that?? I don't know, but the coaching staff will evaluate him in the fall.
