I don't think anybody is trying to say that it's going to happen . . . just that stuff happens sometimes.

I get that.....I have just saw people post that they "expect" 3-5 high rated QB to flip on their commitment....I would like to know what this is based on, as history has shown us over the years that high rated QB's de-committing is the exception, not the rule....and when compared to all other positions, it is very rare. QB's commit early to assure their spot and then spend the rest of the time trying to recruit other skill players to help them out.

Look, if you had some REALLY good news about Scroggins, I would be cool with it. Instead it's the same orange tinted glasses crap that keeps getting recycled. I may have an orange kool-aid avatar, but I know when reality has set in on this one.

get your panties out of that wad.

I wouldn't disagree with that at all. Some people seem to be expecting it though. That's not realistic. We can't just assume that we are going to get one of these guys to de-commit late in the process. We have to get what we can now. I anticipate it being a long time before we add a second QB in this class and it may be a guy we haven't heard of or it could be a guy like Cam Newton. Cam Newton would make a lot of sense at this point.

I think people just get a little carried away after seeing the way Kiffin was able to come in so late last year and flip a few guys.

I mean if I was the coaches. I would say hey Cam if you come to UT we promise you an honest shot at QB. But we need to know you are ok playing WR/TE if you don't win the spot. If he says yes I would offer him on the spot.

I doubt that recruitment would last very long.

You aren't going to land him that way. Cam Newton is a talented QB. He will play QB somewhere. I don't even think anyone will suggest him playing another position.

I totally agree. We cant expect to get 5-6 4* and higher guys to flip their commitment to us on NSD every year. If we depended on that, we would get left out in the cold a LOT. I would not be surprised, however, if we have success on the field and Crompton throws for 3000+ yards, 25TDs and 10 INTs, if we did have a big name QB start looking at us seriously again.

It could happen again. You never know what'll happen during the season with injuries, redshirts, and breakouts that will change the way the 2010 roster looks. I'd say we'll stay on these guys and there's always a chance one of them starts thinking about UT's depth chart. I'm not counting on it, but you never know. What if Barkley gets injured during mopup duty and then takes a redshirt?

Maybe but we do not need a drama case. If he comes here and does not win spot. I mean I would not say it just like that. But in a way that lets him know we are really really in need of a QB. So if you can play you are the man. But if someone should out play you like Stephens at QB. I can get you into to NFL as a WR/TE.

I mean you really think he needs to hear I am your QB or nothing?

If Crompton throws for 3000 yards, 25 TDs and 10 INTs we should have the attention of every QB in the nation.

Exactly. I think Cam Newton is head and shoulders above any QB prospect in this recruiting class talent wise, and it isnt even close IMO. He would be the only 2010 QB I would expect to come in and be able to beat out Stephens for the starting spot. The kid was a 5* prospect for a reason.....he may just need some great coaching, which our staff could provide.

Not really. Learning the under center movements, maybe a challenge for him. Is he great enough of a player to do that?? I don't know, but the coaching staff will evaluate him in the fall.

Are you serious? Cam was a 5* QB....I am pretty sure he can figure out how to take a snap from the center fairly quickly. He is much more talented physically than any other QB in this class, bar-none.
