USC is selling the kid on Barkley playing this year and leaving early for the NFL. Nothing I see points to that happening. I think Corp will play and Barkley could even redshirt. I know there was alot of talk of Mustain transferring or flunking out. But he is back on the team and said he is staying where he is. Why would you waste a year on Barkley just to come in and mop up games agaist weaker teams.

Everyone is making Barkley out to be this awesome, straight to the NFL QB. I don't think that is the case. The kid does have all the physical tools to make it. He probably will. But he will have to wait his turn just like all the other USC Qb's have had to. He struggled with int's in the spring and making bad reads. It even goes back to his senior year of HS. 54% comp. 23 TD 18 INT. Those #'s are not that great. Yes decent. But good enought to walk right in and start at USC over Corp and Mustain. I don't see it. Especially after the spring he had.

Scroggins is from LA and grew up a USC fan. I can't blame the kid for wanting to go there. I also can't blame him for wanting to be close to his family. But the recruiting line he is getting is BS. He will be lucky to see the field at SC until Barkley is gone and that could be at least 4 years away. Plus who knows who comes to SC in the meantime.

I think he is making a mistake. But again could you tell your son to go to SC if UT offered? Even if UT was stacked at QB? I couldn't.......

So assuming this scenario, Scroggins commits to USC. But Corp wins the starting job and plays all season leaving Barkley to either redshirt or just bide his time.

Does that give the option for JS to switch his commitment? I would think so, either way I am afriad the recruitment of Scroggins isn't over on July 25th.

And Cassell play decent on a great team. Randy Moss playing for the Titans last year would've made Kerry Collins look like Peyton Manning, and we would've had a Superbowl ring. Cassell went to KC, the worst team in the league. We'll see how wonderful he is at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Lest we forget Kerry Collins and Randy Moss played on the same team together for a season and went 4-12. Granted the Titans defense was far, far superior than the Raiders, but let's not pretend that this analogy helps your argument all that much.

scout summary needed...new article over there about scroggins from his coach's perspective

possibly names a leader...

Interview with Scroggins' coach from Bryant:

“I can promise you he hasn’t made a decision,” McNeal told InsideTennessee.com Tuesday night. “He has a school that is a slight leader right now, the second place team is so close to the other one, the third one is a little farther out. The top two flip flops day to day.”

“Right now I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t make his final decision before then,” Coach McNeal said. “I will know more later this week, the decision could come as early as this weekend."

Sounds like if he does go with USC he will just go ahead and pick them soon. But if he keeps mulling it over and goes with TN he may wait an announce on the 25th for Pub for our class.

Anyone else get this from this tidbit?

Maybe we can arrange for some aliens to abduct Jesse so they can utilize some brain-scanning technology on him and then we can get an interview with the aliens on Scout.

One thing that really upsets me about CPC is that he comes off as selfish to the players. CPC told Sanchez that he was not ready for the NFL and advised him to stay another year. It was obvious that this year was the best oppurtunity for Sanchez to be drafted higher. The only other QB to declare was Stafford. So that left only 2 great qbs in this class. Even if he had an amazing season next year at USC he still would be in the same draft class as McCoy, Tebow, Snead and probably Bradshaw. The same thing happend with Matt Lienhart, except he stayed. If he left his Jr season he would have easily been #1 ahead of Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers. However his Sr season wasnt as good as his Jr and he fell in the draft because of it. At USC its all about CPC. Jesse needs to see that..

that tidbit makes me think that him holding off till the 25th is in our best interest. ha, funny, because 2 hours ago i was posting that i was so pissed that he was taking forever :dunno:

I think the kid loves USC. If Barkley redshirts he will just think he isn't as good as everyone says and I can beat him out. I think he grew up a USC fan, his dad wants him there. He can make himself believe what he wants to justify his choice. Even if it isn't logical. He best option to play is at UT. But there is more to it than that. I respect him though. It is his choice and like I said earlier I couldn't turn down a UT offer if I was in his shoes and UT was stacked at QB. I love UT....Same with him I believe. He loves USC....

It's usually pretty interesting to hear how far off rumors were after a player commits and gives more access to where his head was at during the recruiting process. Wouldn't it be a big kick to the balls to find out that we're that last team? I guess in the big picture there isn't any difference between 2nd and 3rd, but I'd just hate for CUM to have gotten ahead of us by spilling his lies.

Well said. Thanks for the summary ya'll.

This is almost unbelievable. I swear. It goes from we are out of it to we are his leader in 15 minutes. This is almost as bad as when Orgeron was deciding what he wanted to do. There is alot of media to back up either side. If I had to pick I would say USC from watching the Video of Jesse talk about his three favorites. But kids can change their minds as quick as this board changes it's. Who knows anymore?

catch me up on whats going on. I don't honestly feel like reading fifteen pages since last night.

If you were to read the last 15 pages you would have learned that VolNation loves to talk.

And wasted valuable time of your life.

Honestly, the last 15 posts contain the only new tidbits anyone knows. Apparently his coach says he's truly undecided and that the Top 2 schools are neck and neck.

“I may not make a final decision until right before my announcement,” Scroggins said. “There are three schools that are completely dead even right now. They are Tennessee, USC and Florida.”

“I have loved my trips to all three schools,” Scroggins said. “I’m not sure where I’m going to end up.”

"All the coaches know I haven't made a decision yet," Scroggins explained. "I'm still having great conversations with all three staffs."
I stress again, this one isn't over and we are right there in it.

(1) We do not believe we are out with Scroggins at all. We are simply waiting, but in no way do we think it's USC's lock. Jesse has been sold on the redshirt/play 2 idea there, and we are obviously concerned about the Trojans, but feel good where we are. Although not explicit, it seems to be a 2 school race now.

(2) Rettig was apparently by far the best QB in Hawaii over the weekend. The offer came on its own merit. So to calm you Nancies, we did not offer Rettig just because we think we lost Scroggins. Also, Rettig is not a silent as some of you are thinking. We look very good with him, but as Brent wrote, he's gonna think and I wouldn't be surprised to see more offers.

(3) We look good with Ambles. No specifics.

(4) Kenny Powers is nowhere near ready so don't expect much there.

In summary, calm down.
