'10 CA QB Jesse Scroggins (USC Solid Verbal)

Which school will Scroggins verbally commit to tomorrow?

just to stay in the habit of going off topic...

i posted this in the CR thread, but it applys to both, and i think it would get more responses in this thread...

here is one of the things ive noticed and dont understand. everyone, including me, says that JS would be stupid to take the SC offer because hed ride the pine most if not all of his time there. if JS commits to UT, based soley off his # of stars, shown interest, and offers, wouldnt CR be in a worse situation than JS if he went to SC? if we land JS, whats to say we dont land CR too? that would possibly be the greatest thing ever. i might actually cry...

X has some interesting things to say in his latest blog update. He does say that he thinks Scroggins stays out West, but mentions also that the beat writers that cover USC are not convinced he will end up there and are saying UT is "right there."

Probably more interesting what he has to say about Rettig. We have seen that the guy can play, but he showers praise on him saying that he is one of the top pro-style guys in this class. If Rettig continues to get offers, he could definitely be a guy that attracts recruits.

I wonder about the discrepancy between Scrogs comments and those from his coach.

Coach: #1 is barely in the lead, and flip flops with #2 regularly while #3 is a little more behind.

Scroggins: All three are tied.

Is it because Scrog is really that undecided or is his coach offering more info than Scroggins is willing to? :question:

If Rettig turns out to be one of the top pro-style guys - I just dunno if he makes the jump quick enough in the rankings to attract those skill players and such - they may have committed elsewhere by that time. I'm guessing he won't be able to really, really improve his stock until the season starts.

It's a lot easier for some reason to get the other positions to decommit. The QB is the anchor we need to build around. Personally, I thought BryceB would have lured some Oline interest.

firstly, there are plenty of ney-sayers, even on here, that say that he is from KS and hasnt gone against great competition. secondly, there are many other great backs out there so for an OL recruit im sure that they are thinking that they could block for someone just as good somewhere else.

True but isn't Brown suppose to be like the best RB prospect out of high school since Reggie Bush or something? If so, it would make the o-lines job easier.

I think Bush was only a 4-star wasn't he? He's the best RB in the last 5 years or so coming out of high school according to rivals (at his position) and he's the first RB to ever be ranked #1 on scouts services I believe.

Although - both those accolades may be from scout actually... now that I think about it.

I had to look it up because I wasn't sure. Reggie Bush was a five star on rivals and listed as the number one. I don't know about scouts though and I'm too lazy to look it up :dance:.

You were right about seeing him as a four star. He was a four star on scouts and the number 3 running back.

you would think that would help a lot more than it has. but im guessing that a 5-7 record and no future QB as of yet are big factors. especially the QB. imagine being an OL that has to block for his RBs almost every single play. the DL will know what to expect and the LBs will cheat up. thats a big work load. not to mention, they have to try and protect the QB behind them occaisionally too

There were a couple of highly rated linemen that were waiting for Brown and Oku to choose though because they wanted to block for a good running back. I wonder where those guys ended up because it wasn't here :(. If linemen would come for Brown and Oku, it should work in reverse and help lure a quarterback. Being on your back and hurried into interceptions isn't very fun. Not that Scroggins would have that problem at USC or Florida.

Incorrect. Bush was a 5 star, the #1 RB in the nation and the #2 prospect.
