They offered Rees as the #2 guy, that has nothing to do with Scroggins. Both USC and Tennessee are holding out and hoping that they get Scroggins, and if they don't than they'll offer Rettig.

And again your making it seem like we have absolutely no shot at landing Scroggins, and that's just wrong. Scroggins hasn't made up his mind yet, so how could we have no shot?

Actually he's #3 on their board according to Rees himself. Scroggins being #1 and Rettig #2, IMO. We have an outside shot to land him, IMO. I think USC is just too much to overcome and the distance will be the biggest factor with him.

Talking to a recruit and offering are completely different occurances. We've talked to plenty, but only offered a few. USC's approach to him has been uninspiring, if not disrespectful. It communicates a glaring lack of need. We, conversely are quite the opposite. Proximity to campus should take a seat...in the trunk!
What best prepares him for and gives him the best shot to get to the next level should be in the driver seat. Waiting 3-4yrs behind Barkley and Corp isn't a promising proposition, regardless of USC's QB history.

I think your Kool-Aid level his high with this post. Scroggins loves USC, and he obviously doesn't feel the disrespect you seem to think that they have shown him.

I didn't mean #2 guy on their board, but the #2 guy in this class. If Scroggins goes elsewhere, Rettig will be the #1 guy in their class and Rees will be the #2 if he comes here.

Why?

I would think just about the only reason we don't want him at this point is if he chooses USC or UF.

If he's REALLY concerned about secondary violations, then he's not very resourceful and is listening too closely to the other coaches because I'm sure they have had as many if not more than UT in the past calendar year.

His own words about them waiting so long, tell me Kool-Aid has nothing to do with it :)
And if he LOVED USC as much as you claim he does (don't remember reading about his love affair with the Trojans...maybe you're assuming, or drinking a bit too much Kool-Aid yourself :) ), then he'd be committed right now.

It just seems like from all the articles and speculation that he has made his mind up and is going to use the E11 as a platform. Sounds like CLK all the way to get some media attention as well as recruits.

CUM is getting to him, trying to negative recruit. scroggins says he's concerned about the UT violations.

My concern about that statement is it is so freakin lame it sounds like he is already making an excuse why he is not going to choose TN. That can't possibly be a genuine concern unless this guy is numb in the skull.

I agree with eric, I'm sure Scroggins is fully aware that USC is the best program in America and waiting for an offer at an already loaded position for them was just part of it.

fyp...I think some Gator, LSU, Texas and OU fans would take issue with your claim

Scroggins told gvx that he wanted ESPN to boost the recruiting of the school he chooses. So obvioulsy Florida is out of the conversation.

I would take Rettig now rather than wait. We need a name for the other skill sets to follow. I know our depth chart is probably the most attractive thing to Scroggins right now, but if he's afraid to sign with us after Rettig then I don't want the guy.

Come on Eric, it's gotten to the point where is seems like you are actually rooting for Scroggins NOT to come to UT, which is know isn't true, but that's just what it's coming off like.

And i'm going to really lol if Scroggins does commit to UT after all the time and effort you put into telling he he would NOT come.
This has some truth to it.

I just saw that. I don't think that it's anything that will boost recruiting like he thinks it will, but it's something that he believes in and has probably been told to wait on.

You don't think a top QB announcing his school on ESPN will help with recruiting? You should let Kiffin know he's going about it the wrong way then.

This notion that UT isn't willing to wait until the 25th is ridiculous. He's the top QB on their board. They will wait until Signing Day if need be. Would they like him to commit very soon? Sure. But there aren't any prospects on our board scheduled to announce between now and then anyway so what the hell difference does it make?

Jesse is showing in taking his time on this decision that he is going to go about this very carefully and calculated. That obviously favors us because the situation here is much better for a QB. He is going to make an educated decision rather than an emotional one and I like UT's chances.

A QB commitment to UT, which Rees is the only one that is a possibility there, is not going to frighten Scroggins off IMO. If he's willing to compete with Matt Barkley for playing time, he's certainly not going to be frightened off by Tommy Rees. Besides, Scroggins likely knows we are taking two QBs anyway. It hasn't been any secret.

I know your position, and you know mine, it's all good. I was waiting for you to come through though. :)

From GVW: Scroggins said he also decided on July 25, in part, because of the television coverage that ESPN will provide. He hopes his commitment will help boost recruiting for whichever school he chooses.

Now this does actually sound like our style... I haven't been keeping an eye on USC, but I would guess that we could use the biggest boost in recruiting based on our lack of depth on the Oline and WR

From what he says about UF, he must be drinking whatever Kool-Aid Urban is mixing. I mean "they are running the offense around their qb?" Really? Meyer has been running that offense for a while and what is with the comment that the "secondary violations" concern him. I agree with what was said earlier, he is making excuses for not coming here. Let's go after Rettig and get the train moving toward some wr's.

And doesn't that sound like exactly what Kiffin would want/tell him to do?

great point, Sab. many people dont realize the pressure that must be on this kid's shoulders. the fact that Jesse has not committed to USC tells me that he understands the benefits of playing at UT. it might not be enough in the end, but he didnt committ on the spot to USC, like many thought he would.
