CUM is getting to him, trying to negative recruit. scroggins says he's concerned about the UT violations.

I'm sorry, but if there is even the slightest bit of truth in this (i.e. Jesse actually believes CUM and is concerned about violations) then I don't want him. Anyone that would buy into that does not understand college recruiting very well or CUM's propensity to fib to recruits and probably isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

That being said, I tend to think Jesse's a sharp kid and is probably just trying out some excuses to see which one has the 'best legs'.

Actually, you are speculating like we all are and you are pro-UT for him and I am pro-USC. Both of us have our different reasons, of course.

Not exactly.

Hey, what about that Urban Meyer phone call which could be nothing else but a commitment or to tell them they were out of it??

Scroggins says all schools are still recruiting him and he talks to each at least once a week.

Why are you pro USC?

Because all the things that he has mentioned in the past about USC, he can get there. Great competition, home town school, BCS powerhouse, family and friends CLOSE by, NFL factory of offensive players, and other things I can't think of right now. Neither his dad or coach seem to be pointing him to UT right now. Those are two opinions that Jesse favors highly.

He could have told them thanks but no thanks, and the coaches still call him. Our coaches do it all the time. I don't understand what else he needs to know about Florida or anyone else for that matter.

Eric, coaches contact recruits all the time. As close as you follow recruiting you should know that. Meyer is going to continue to recruit him as will Pete and Lane. They will continue to keep in contact with him up until he makes a decision. He isn't going to tell Florida they are out of it and maintain in the media that all schools are even. He'd just drop Florida.

That call was exactly what I said it was. Just another recruiting call. It was after USC's camp and Urban knew that was important to Jesse. I'm sure he wanted to talk to him about it.

Probably all the way up to NSD.

Sab and Eric -

How often do you guys totally disagree on a recruit? You guys seem to be worlds apart on this one and you both have VERY valid reasons.

If Jesse is taking violations of the prospective schools into consideration, maybe he should really look at USC a little closer. I don't recall UT being the target of an NCAA investgation.

If it was, that's pretty nice of ole Urby to talk with him about his camping with USC that late at night where Urban lives. In all fairness though, it was a recruiting phone call, but the discussion that happened is what we differ on here.

I didn't really get a warm fuzzy feeling when reading the article on GVX, I must admit. I really couldn't tell which way he is leaning.

As comfortable as Scroggins has been with the Vols, he does have one concern.

“Just basically all the hoopla that’s going on — all the violations and stuff,” Scroggins said on Monday.

UT has self-reported a handful of secondary violations, none of which is expected to result in any serious action from the NCAA or the SEC.

“I think they’re coming through it,” Scroggins said. “I think they’re going to be pretty good this year.”

This part didn't sound good at all, but then again, it was almost like he was just trying to think of a negative against UT. Seriously, if a few secondary violations is the only bad thing he could find, that really isn't bad at all. Is this just all part of the recruiting game?

Scroggins said he also decided on July 25, in part, because of the television coverage that ESPN will provide. He hopes his commitment will help boost recruiting for whichever school he chooses.

This sounds like it's right down Kiffin's alley. It's almost like Kiffin put him up to it. CLK lives for television coverage. It's not like these other recruits aren't going to know where he commits within and hour or so anyways, whether he does it on tv or not. Heck, I don't know. I guess we will find out on the 25th.

Don't lie to 'em Eric, we disagree all the time. That's what makes our conversations so entertaining. :p

See we even disagree on disagreeing.

We do disagree, but I don't think it's to the point where we disagree about 50% of the recruits we are recruiting. I would say it's about 10% of the time. I also believe that 60% of this post is made up, and Sab is 100% nuts.

it absolutley sickens me to think that coaches should have anymore influence in the decision making than establishing connections. whotf cares what a high school coach thinks? its disgusting. they try to ride the lime light of their players IMO. the only influencing opinion on a recruit should be their parents.

god it pisses me off :realmad:

unfortunatley for us, his parents want him closer to home.

I can't even lie, this topic is just getting disgusting. Almost 5000 posts about a kid over 7 months before signing day? Jeeeze

After reading this story I think he has had time to get off that emotional high at USC and we are back in the lead.Maybe not by much, but at this very moment I think we have a slight edge.

"I really don't know what it's going to come down to," Scroggins offered. "I am going to do my pros and cons for all three and then my parent and my coach are taking me to dinner and asking me questions to help me decide what school is the best place for me."

IMO, here is the bottom line. His Dad can convince him to go to USC where he can drive 30 minutes and watch him ride the pine for 3 or 4 years, or he can allow his son to go to UT, and watch him play every Saturday on primetime.

It doesn't sound good that his coach is going to be there.:ermm:
