Actually, after CUM leaves, UF could hire Gruden. But, still, that's lots of gambling when we've already got an ideal staff to prep him for the NFL.

Why bother will all these risks?

He could be like Bryce and simply do what's in his best interests and become a Vol, but BB's process seemed much more deliberate and reasoned.

I have to drive from Orlando to Tennessee tomorrow, and the worst part is I'm going to be so far behind in this thread. :banghead2:

BB was in it for him. no one else. scroggins seems to be a little more family oriented. plus, USC was his favorite team. you could make the argument that he IS doing whats in his best interest. even riding the bench, he can go nfl. matt cassel??

I love how freely this Matt Cassel situation is thrown around. Do any of you all realize the odds of that happening...

Dude, no offense, but do you really think I'm aware of what I post and what is contained therein? Go back and read my post again. I wasn't asking where it said his coach is going to help him with his decision. That happens with most every recruit FWIW.

I was just talking about the coach being involved in helping him make the best decision. I knew I had read today that he said he was going to dinner with his parents and coach to do the pro's and con's. I thought that was what you were asking when you wanted to know where this was coming from about his coach.

I think Fla. is holding up where he's going! Sounds like he's bought in on Urban's BS.

Said it before and I'll say it again. If this is true, he's not a very sharp kid and I wouldn't want him...

I don't think it's true though..

Yeh, but I think the plank to the League has got to be a tough transition. Could you imagine going from HS starter, playing a bit against Pac 10 defenses, and then presto... you've got NFL speed to figure out? That takes a special person.

Shuler played a lot and couldn't adjust his processing to catch up with the speed of the League. The SEC is the best play to get experience against defenses, but you need to be running a pro-style offense.

We're really an ideal team for an elite QB. I think we sign one. Somebody out there is going to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and realize that the UT opportunity is far too good to pass up. It may not be Scroggins, but it could be somebody committed elsewhere.

i know the odds are low. but they are there non the less. whod have though matt cassel would be where he is now 4 years ago??

Of course, Shuler got his money up front and now serves in Congress (tenured financial security).

I'd take the playing time, college stardom, and earlier draft pick.

Maybe Cassel does better over the long haul, but his chances of injury are higher than Heath's. Still, I don't think there will ever be a Matt Cassel Fathead available (or, is there already one?).

he has his own jeresey from NE. he def has one now in KC. who knows, hes now the franchise QB there, i bet if he doesnt already, he'll have a fathead eventually.:dunno:

If he gets a fathead, life is good! :good!:

Man, every time I look at his (Jesse's) myspace page, I keep seeing a certain sentence and trying to disect how much he will take this to heart. He says "THE WORST THING I FEAR IN LIFE IS REGRET... J SCROGGS" If USC was his childhood school, would he choose UT to later regret not choosing USC. I am curious to know how much that certain sentence is playing in his head......

I know BB has the overall record, but what's the longest thread for a player who didn't commit to the Vols?

Will Scroggins set a new record here?

Or will he go to USC and regret not getting immediate playing time at UT. That could be running through his head.

By the time he figured that out, we will have signed some stud from the 2011 class and the opportunity will have passed.

Is that just like we didn't worry to much when Coach Kiffin let Tahj Boyd go because we were going to sign a stud quarterback this year?
