Come on Eric, it's gotten to the point where is seems like you are actually rooting for Scroggins NOT to come to UT, which is know isn't true, but that's just what it's coming off like.

And i'm going to really lol if Scroggins does commit to UT after all the time and effort you put into telling he he would NOT come.

family is the leverage USC has in this situation. i think he goes to USC. i think UF is not a factor. the chance to play soon and draw new recruits is what UT offers. still think blood is thicker though...

i wont be surprised if he goes to USC. itll suck, but w/e, we will move on. if he choses UF, i will just downright cry, and burn/maim/mangle something.

If he chooses Florida, that will be a bigger perceived mistake than choosing USC, IMO. Urban won't be down there if Weiss flops again this year.

Exactly, this thread is messin with his brain.

I could not resist creating an account on here. Since December, I have checked rivals, scout, news sentinel and volnation every day 4 times a day to check for news on the VOLS. I currently work at another University in the state of Tennessee but my blood is all orange and Jesse Scroggins is killing me with holding out on his announcement to where he is going. I think he will anounce he will be a vol on ESPN for recruiting purposes, at least lets hope so......Glad to be a part of the Volnation family.....

Not really, I'm just offering the less homeristic opinion and more of a realistic one at this point. If he was going to come here, he would already be on board, IMO.

This is pretty much what I think. If he chooses USC or UF he sits the bench for at least two years. If he chooses UF I'm going to throw up.

USC has been in it from the start, honestly. To say they haven't is a complete understatement.
USC HAS NOT been in it from the beginning. Scroggins stated as much in an interview shortly after he camped here. They jumped on Barkley right out of the gate last year. They rolled out the red carpet for him, and to make the next prospect have to come to your camp and play hurt to win an offer...that's pretty callous, no matter how you slice it.

Welcome to the board, but he will be announcing at the Elite 11 camp in Las Vegas on July 25th.

But you could easily make the exact same case for USC. If he was going to USC, why wouldn't he just go ahead and commit there?

Eric,
I disagree, I know there are alot of things pointing to USC but I don't think this is already over. I have to think back to what he has said through the entire process and that is the depth chart will be a factor in where he goes. I also think putting this off till July 25th could just as well be Kiffin telling the kid to wait. Everyone needs to remember it is still just July.

Asking the kid to hold off to get the most publicty and announce on ESPN would be vintage Kiffin move. He would want to milk every ounce of free publicity out of this commitment.

I also think all the talk earlier about USC talking to Bray and Retig mean something. You haven't heard alot of talk other than UT talking to Rees which is a #2 QB in the class. He would be #2 at Notre Dame who recently offered or for us. Plus we really seem to be hitting Ill. hard and that may help with Prater, Milton, Cooper, and Fulton.

Then there is the family in Memphis area. I know that isn't really close but there seems to be something there. He keeps mentioning it in interviews.

I think he ends up here. I have heard alot of internet talk about the kids dad pushing him to USC. But I haven't heard that from comments I have read from the kid or his dad. His dad has put alot of effort and time and money into this kid. I don't think he would keep him close to home if he thought it would be holding the kid back and IMO it would be.

Scroggins also seems to really like the spotlight of the SEC. Look at his list earlier. LSU, UT, FL.

I know USC seems like they have him in the bag from reading people talk online but I don't think he lands there. I still feel like this kid will wear orange and I think Kiffin already knows it myself.

Can USC go back to back?

You rarely see a school sign the nation's top quarterback in back to back classes. The general feeling is, when a school signs a big time blue chip type signal caller, quarterbacks in the following class will steer away and look for a school where the opportunity to play earlier might be much better.

Saying that, USC has a realistic shot at pulling in that rare feet this year. After signing the consensus top quarterback in the land a year ago in Matt Barkley, USC is among the finalist for Lakewood's (Calif.) Jesse Scroggins and I'm hearing more and more in recent weeks that the Trojans could actually lead for the signal caller at this time.

Scroggins was the top quarterback I saw during the entire NIKE Camp tour. He was flying well below the radar last fall but as his tape began to circulate, more schools started to take notice. Soon Scroggins was picking up offers from just about every top school in the country and following the Elite 11 QB camp in July, there is a very good chance the Under Armour All-American could emerge as the No. 1 quarterback in the land.

Until recent weeks, it appeared Tennessee and Florida were the teams to beat for Scroggins. That all changed following the USC Rising Stars Camp a week ago. The Trojans put the full court press on him and Scroggins has said repeatedly he's not afraid to come in and compete with Barkley if need be.

"I love the competition, it's what makes you better," Scroggins said. "They're saying Matt will play this year and I know a lot of people expect him to stay just three years. So even if I'm not able to beat him out, if I had to redshirt a year behind Matt, I would still be able to play by my sophomore year."

Scroggins is quick to point out he doesn't have a leader among the three schools although he has moved up his timeline for making a decision from late July to possibly as early as next week. He might not say he has a leader, but several people close to him feel if he had to commit today, he would be a Trojan.

It would be an incredible coup for USC to reel in Scroggins who has incredible upside and is still coming in to his own as a player. Physically, he still has a baby face and is far from maturing. As he continues to grow and add strength, as well as learn the position even more, Scroggins has a chance to be a very special player at the next level.

----------------------------

Base on Scroggins' remarks it kind of sounds like USC did a good selling job. I'm sure CLK is doing his best to counter that.

Good luck to you guys. I know y'all would really like to get Scroggins, but don't have a meltdown if he doesn't commit to UT. If you don't get him, and you end up with Lamaison and/or Rettig or even someone else, you might be just as well off. Sometimes highly rated HS QBs don't do so great at the next level. Plus, all of these HS QBs still have their entire senior season to play. Rettig might have a stellar senior year. You just never know. Again, good luck.

If that is the way you believe, it's all good. I know that USC has been in contact with him for almost as long as UT has, if not longer. They offered the latest of anyone, but that doesn't matter at this point. As far as him competing hurt, he made a miraculous recovery before he went out there and honestly I think that says a lot about where USC stands for him.

Because they can wait and tell him they are in no hurry for him to commit if he wants to go there. We don't have that luxury.

Like I said if a quarterback has players around him he can suceed.

How badazz would it be if he already told Kiffin he's coming, Kiffin has relayed the info to Prater, Milton, Cooper, and Fulton...they are silently on board as well, and we get the best uncomitted QB and 4 studs all on the same day, on national television?

We can dream.

Fulton is already a commit.......

No, the coaching staff is showing that they are going to wait for Scroggins. If they couldn't wait, they would have already offered Rettig.

Your making it seem like he's already made up his mind, which he hasn't.

I think the odds right now are about 44% Tennessee, 55% USC, and 1% Florida but, again, your making it seem like we have no shot whatsoever, which couldn't be farther away from the truth.
