I don't think UT is wanting or willing to wait that long.
Rettig seems like the prototypical Kiffin kind of QB. He's the tallest, fastest (4.7 40, compared to Jesse's 4.8), and has the strongest arm. After the news about his performance at the Super 7 camp (coached by Joe Montana for a few days...not just an overnight camp), combined with his standout performance at our own camp, I'm ready to say "Thank You Jesse, but no thanks...we got our guy, and without all the drama."
And then take Cam Newton. I'd MUCH rather have those two than Scroggins and Rees

Honestly, does anyone believe any of those unconfirmed, submitted stats on Rivals?

My favorite is when they post their ACT score or GPA, as if the Rivals editors personally saw the ACT letter or accessed their school records. It's quite retarded, really.

there's a world of difference, mi amigo, between being a practice All-American and an All-American.

see Quinton Hancock and Jon Crompton.

after Rettig's done well at one event, he always seems to take a step back at the next one.

he needs to take his best camp performance, improve it, and then apply it to an in-game setting consistently.

He did that as a Sophomore...had great stats. Then his team got rocked the following year with 10 injuries on the offense alone...their record showed it. That's why he transferred to San Clemente, where he'll have a better chance to shine.

I agree with that for the most part, but Rettig reminds me of a Colt McCoy (not yet talent wise) and people getting on him late. If Rettig commits now, it will be hard to hold on to him if he blows up this fall. I will say this, if some of these "can't miss prospects" suck it up during their senior seasons and fall apart, you will see some defections and schools changing their minds about letting them stay committed. I just see the fall as a bigger part of the process for these guys than most will allude to.

But even with injuries (Likely a lot of WRs with broken hands), shouldn't drop your completion percentage 10 points and TD:INT to drop from around 2.something to 1. He's just a project at this time. The only QBs who would be able to come in and contribute (Like we need) are probably Scroggins and maybe maybe maybe Grayson.

He played hurt and his team SUCKED as well. It makes sense if your stats take a nose dive if your O-Line can't clock for you every play.

Anybody willing to put a number value on how bad this wait sucks?

What if you could get an answer tomorrow, but the chances of landing him are 50%?

or...

What if we had to wait a month but the percentage went up to 75%?

We can obviously play with the wait time and percentages in this excercise. All I know, is I am sick of waiting. This kid needs to flip a coin so we can all go on about our business.

Here's what I believe they are....

3/1 USC
6/1 UT
8/1 UF

Wow you really belive this kid is going to USC! Do you have any sources?

His dad has been pro-USC throughout the entire process. Also, it's Jesse's dream school, plus his dad wouldn't have to drive very far to watch his son's team play. This decision will be about family in the end, and USC will win because they can afford to wait as long as they wish for him, since he's the one they want and have no immediate need for another QB.

Eric, do you really think this kid is still undecided at this point, or is he craving attention? I don't understand how he couldn't know at this point. Does he have anymore visits? Is he waiting for something else?

I understand this is the most important decision he will make in his life at this point, but you would think he would know by now, especially if it is really down to three schools.

that speaks volumes to me.

If USC is that good of a fit for him he would be a commit for USC by now. How many times does he have have to say all three teams are even?

He knows, and honestly most kids know at least a month or two before they let the schools know. There are exceptions though, but not too awful many. I don't think that this is for attention though, I think it's just to make sure that he's doing the right thing and getting the blessing of his parents.

Recruits are always going to differ positive comment if they don't want to clue people in on where they are going. There is just too much to point him towards USC. He may very well be a silent right now to USC, which is why he's deflecting conversation when declaring a leader. Happens quite often.

I'm going to try and quit reading this thread. Wait it's impossible!
