Hi I am new here. Just wonderin if there is any positive news about Scroggins. I like to read the articles on govolsxtra to try to stay in the loop, but there is way too much garbage on there in the commentary, too many gator fans talking sh!t (or KNS staff posing as gator fans to keep the commentary going). Looks like there is alot to sift through in this thread...could anyone give me the scoop? Thanks and Go Big Orange! :rock:

Hey Matt, Welcome. The only good news is that he didn't commit yesterday with his buddy. Told his coaches he'd decide by monday.

why is he dragging this out so long? this is worse than the suspense of the Bryce Brown recruitment. This is so much more critical, landing a QB. Getting BB was just a huge huge bonus to our last class. Is Scroggins trying to drive UT fans nuts or what? :banghead2:

Thanks and IMO the fate of Kiffin hinges on him getting a QB or not getting a QB soon. I would have thought he would have at least 2 decent QB's firmly commited at this point, and after the top QB for 11. What gives?

Im not sold on him being high on USC because if he was he would have already commited. This is not about being sure he wants to go to USC. This is about him not really knowing where he wants to go. I think if he comes here again he will be a vol period. He has to be thinking about us. I think FL was through out there to not show we were the one he is thinking about

Well his dad told Hubbs he would take him to all the schools again, so if Jesse really wants to visit, he should let him.

Or he's just saying this to create more drama.

How will the forum react if he visits tennessee and not Florida. I know ppl think Fl is not in it but IMO it would be huge for him to just come here and not FL. Hell he lives 20 mins and 10 seconds form USC but prob no need to go there again.
Me i will be stoked if he comes again

If he makes it here we have a good shot IMO. I wouldnt be surprised if he only came here. Many ppl, including I, think Fla is a distant 3rd.

That's a good point. If he visits both UT and UF, that could mean he still might have at least a little bit of interest in UF. If he visits just UT, that could be a very good sign for us, but I'd have to know how the visit goes before I would switch my original prediction of Scroggins to USC.

If he ends up a Gator after all of this, I will puke...I don't think that happens, though.

Not trying to pick on the new guy but that's a huge overstatement. I think one analyst said this was the weakest QB class in about 20 years. In a typical year, UT might not even be recruiting Scroggins or else would have already had him since USC would have taken someone else.

Getting one of the biggest fish out of a very small pond isn't likely to get you a trophy.

I think Scroggins is good enough to play at either place... I'm just saying the weakness of this class has forced CLK and company to try to pluck a QB right out from under Carroll's front porch... a player Carroll wouldn't have offered in either of the past two classes. I'm not trying to disparage JS in any way. He might become great at either place... but both schools will try to recruit over him next year.

In a normal year, UT would be recruiting equal or better QB's within an 800 mile radius.

But Kiffin's future does not depend on getting a QB in this year's class. It would be ideal but getting at least one high caliber "big" WR and 6-8 good OL's is far more important... in fact, you could probably drop the WR part. UT MUST GET OL's. Everything else will follow on from there.

What has Florida to offer that he could not get at USC? If he is looking for a crowded depth chart he could stay in LA. Also, why would he want to play for a coach that has only coached the spread offense? The only reason that Urban Slimeball is recruiting Jessee is to distract from UT. Otherwise, they would not show him the time of day.

I agree with sjt18. Scroggins is a very important get for us, but shockingly enough the QB position is not the most important for us. We need offensive linemen in the worst way. Y'all realize we're starting four seniors on the line this year, and the depth chart is already pretty thin. However the general consensus that if Scroggins commits to UT then it will cause a domino effect of WR's and OL committing to Tennessee. So... it's important to sign a high profile quarterback to get the best players possible.

I agree that Florida is in third place in the Scroggins sweepstakes and will likely finish there. But why would he take another visit there on his own dime if he had absolutely no interest in UF? I also think Meyer is recruiting him only to try to keep him from UT, but he probably doesn't know that.
