09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

Not sure 1 missed tackle makes him a bad player. It's not like JJ hasn't missed tackles also, right?

If you can't see that prentiss cannot tackle you need to watch some games from last year again. I'm not one to put down players, but it was some of the worst I've ever seen.

What I hear from folks at USC is that he's having problems getting credits transferred to the U. So while he might have been planning to go there, it might not work out for him. UT will. I would be surprised if this weren't true.

That would make the most sense out of all of what is being thrown around. He wants to be a Cane, and it was announced he had commited to the U but a red flag popped up with his admissions. He then pushed back his "announcement" IMO to see if they could get him in. IF for some reason they can't, he will then pick the Vols on Monday.

There are multiple scenarios that could play out, but, IMO, either Gordon or Teague (unless moved back to WR) will start at one C while JJ or Moore at the other. I do not see both Moore and JJ at C---one of the two will be inside at S---unless the scheme (for ex. a nickel pkg) calls for it, albeit this all is on the assumption that Moore signs. Ntl, JMO.

Good question. That abortion of a tackle on Jefferson at LSU when he went 80+ yards for a touchdown on their opening play stands out like a sore thumb when I think about Waggner and his tackling skills. The coaches had him in the proper position to make the play and he just whiffed.

You are completely correct. One missed tackle is all it takes. One mistake can result in a TD. That's why if Waggner doesn't fix that flaw in his game he will find himself getting buried on the depth chart.

JJ missed a tackle to give up the first TD to UNC.

Agreed, earlier in the thread I had stated that both JJ and PW need to wrap up on contact. Too, many times they just launch into a player...that worked for them against their HS comp BUT not at this OR the next level of play.

In addition, AE and PW get caught out of position way too often. This, IMO, is due to their anticipation (of play) not so much that their coach had them out of position. JMO.

Big difference is Janzen makes enough plays in big games that make you forget about that tackle. Remember how he played in the LSU game?

Bottom Line is we need DBs and Moore would make an impact here from Day 1.

I see ur point, BUT would not go as far as to say "forget about that tackle" OR any missed tackle for that matter, they all contribute to the games final outcome.

"Bottom line..." Agreed.

Remember the pick in the endzone that erased points? Yeah I would say he made up for it. He and Brewer looked good in the Carolina game.

Yes, it was a good pick, but, then again, as a defender it was his responsibility too. Just as is tackling. No defensive coach is forgiving of missed tackles, missed assignments, etc. During film sessions miscues, not INT's, fumble recoveries, etc., are what coaches JW, CS, LT, and TJ focus on and break down with players.

I've never seen JJ launch...... oh wait,

We didn't really blow out UAB!! I would say all the interceptions are very important. Game changing plays. Alot of corners can't tackle well they work more on over/under coverage, watching a receivers hips and playing the ball for breakups and int. Im not saying he should whiff as he has on some plays but our tackling as a team was awful at the beginning of the year, but I think the staff is correcting that as it has improved

He's slow too. Really slow for a DB.
