09 CA S Byron Moore - UT Commit

Now Canes Sport is reporting that Byron Moore has not committed yet and will not make a decision until later this week.

Marqise Lee earlier told CaneSport that none of the California recruits has publicly committed, and Byron Moore texted CaneSport this morning that he will be announcing a decision at some point this week. It's expected he will announce for the Canes

Maurice Couch 2.0 for the Canes. He will be a Cane just as Couch was always a Vol. They will be glad to get him officially just as we were.

And noone wanted to listen. I told you guys if we were taking Orta AND Lanier it meant no Moore. There is still about a 1% chance Moore could change his mind but he's committed to Miami right now...

And The Dooley said we'd try to take all three but that Moore would probably go to Miami. The facts don't support one position over the other.

Yeah, there may STILL be an outside shot if he's announcing next week... but basically he's considered a Miami commit ATM...

I don't think we take another DB with our current #s. We are in on too many good DTs and LBs to lock up another DB right now and limit what we're able to do with the 2 biggest positions of need.

I agree that he's going to Miami. I'm just saying that Orta's commitment didn't prove anything.

IMO Dooley knew this was coming, you don't take a commit from Lanier and Orta if Moore was going to commit to UT.

I agree. I thought all along that Orta was the backup plan and when we accepted his commitment, my hopes for getting Moore were greatly diminished. I still thought there was a small chance, but that was my heart talking, not my brain. My heart still hopes that Dooley can pull it out between now and NSD, but the fact that we took Orta that tells me that Dooley and the staff do not envision that happening.

Moore is better than Lanier and much better than Orta, but it is what it is. We have still significantly improved our secondary with this class, especially by adding speed.

Congratulations to Miamicane -- Moore is a great player and a great get for you folks. It is better for Moore to go to Miami than to another SEC school.

Wonder if Bobby McCain's in play now?

I doubt it seriously, Tripper. McCain committed yesterday to Memphis and I think we are basically done at DB for the year. The only change I see to that scenario is if we whiff on several of the guys atop our leader board, and if that were to happen (I hope not) we would probably take Loften in this class. Loften is a great player, but we have a lot of great talent still sitting out there and do not want to use up a scholarship on a kid who has shown no desire to be a Vol over the past year -- he says he wants to be a Vol, but actions speak louder than words.

Even PF from VQ is surprised. he said he liked where we stood with Moore going into the weekend.
he will try and get with Moore later today for either confirmation or denial of this commitment rumor

For reasons previously stated, I think Moore probably did "unofficially" commit to Miami, but since he wants to wait a day or more to publicly announce his decision, that will give Dooley a chance to change his mind. I suspect Dooley and Wilcox will be on him like a duck on a junebug, and will be reiterating all the reasons for him to change his mind again and select Tennessee over Miami -- guaranteed playing time with a real chance to immediately start, much better facilities, much larger and better stadium, much larger and better fan base, and more media exposure are just some of the reasons he should change his mind.

Go get 'em Dooley!!
