Fulmer has contacted Tee Martin (Feldman)

I watched Memphis fans beg their AD to hire a beloved former Tiger, Larry Porter, who had been SEC recruiter of the year and had been part of an SEC staff that had won big. Despite some successes, his resume was thin. Coach Porter was hired and from day one he was outmatched. Loving Memphis...

    Norvell vs Schiano

I live in a Memphis suburb. That’s an unverified rumor. There are other rumors floating around having nothing to do with casinos. Some in Memphis think it was all started by Ole Miss because he wasn’t interested in their job (and may steal their QB). I’ve also heard it was started by an agent...

Norvell - Walk-on's tell the story

He’s a much better recruiter than Fuente. It’s not even close. If anyone believes he is successful because he is playing with Fuente’s guys, they arent paying attention. He has totally remade the Tigers. He’d kill it in recruiting in Knoxville.

Jeff Brohm and Mike Norvell: what have they done?

I live in a Memphis suburb so I’ve watched both Fuente and Norvell up close. Norvell is Butch 2.0 only superficially. It’s a lazy comparison. To say he’s merely riding Fuente’s success is only true if you don’t consider that he took what Justin did and has elevated it in every area. And people...

    Norvell simply hasn't done enough.....

I don’t post much, but I read here constantly. I’m a lifelong Big Orange fan from Jackson, TN, but have been in Memphis area since I graduated from college in late 80’s. We moved to Desoto County ten years ago because of Memphis crime. It’s been great.

    Norvell simply hasn't done enough.....

That logic may seem correct, but it’s not exactly true. Fuente wasn’t a recruiter, whereas Mike is an awesome recruiter and has really upped the talent at Memphis. If he can recruit to Memphis, I can’t imagine what he could do at Tennessee. As you said, Mike truly is an offensive innovator. In...

    Brohm or Norvell?

I live in a Memphis suburb, so I’ve seen a lot of Norvell. The guy just does everything right. With a good defensive coordinator, I think he can win big. I’d shoot for the big names with more experience (Gruden, Franklin, Patterson, etc) but if Currie “settles” for Norvell, he’s a serious...

    Official Jon Gruden Thread XXVIII

James Franklin perhaps? About ten days ago, Dan Wolken was on Memphis radio (Gary Parrish Show if I remember correctly) and he explained the reasons why Franklin might be willing to leave Penn State. Wolken believes there’s some tension there.

    Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

A few minutes ago the media guy who used to co-host The Jon Gruden Show in Tampa speculated as much on Sports 56 in Memphis. He doesn't believe Gruden will coach TN or any other college. He predicted we get Jimbo Fisher.

I am a hopeless VN addict, but I never comment. However, I've known George Lapides for about twenty-five years through business, so I thought I would add my perspective. Sometime George can be a Big Richard, but I know him to have integrity. He doesn't just makes things up. He was a serious...
