Or it could be that a guy made a commitment to his players and wants to see it through. After a coach who over promised and under delivered, I like a guy who does his best to his word to his players.
Using that logic, Tom Brady is a lousy quarterback because dozens of professional organization passed on him round after round. He was passed up over 150 times.
Currie was turned down by Gundy and Brohm. My guess is that Phil Fulmer has watched a bit more game tape than Currie and Haslam in his search.:hi: My guess is also that Currie went way over the budget that both he and Fulmer were given to get Leach in order to try to save his job.
We got rejected for $3 million a year. That's 25% less than CBJ was making. We probably offered a 50% pay increase, and he said no. We are not going to get a sitting head coach with the budget that Fulmer has been given. He does not get to decide what we spend.
I would throw $10 million at...
Yes. Bigger rumors. Lots of rejections. Dave Doeren rejected us for 5 years at $15 million under Currie. Let that sink in. P5 head coaches do not change that often unless there is already a connection there from the past. Fulmer knows that.

I love the passion and emotion. But regrettably, we were always going to wind up with something like this list. If Petersen would come for say, 5 years and $6 million; I think we might be able to get him. But we are not offering anyone $10 million a year (even though I think we should).
I...
Let's be clear. Up to this point the total budget for coaches appears to be in the $10 to $11 million range including assistants. We aren't going to spend Jimbo Fisher/Nick Saban money while we are in buyout limbo.
My pure guess is a $10 million cap for all coaches going into a building...
Wishing and hoping ain't thinking! This program needs credibility and stability. One NC coach hiring another NC coach who MAY bring in VFLs with championships does that. We have to stabilize and become Tennessee again before we win National Championships. This isn't magic. We have been in a...
