Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVII

Maybe you should watch it again to gather additional evidence. Helton calls many of the plays.

It's obvious to me that Tee would be a liability of an OC at UT if paired with Miles as neither coach QB's or call all of their own plays.

However, pair Tee with Gruden and that's completely different as he coaches the QB's and calls the plays.

I just told you I watched the game. Tee is going to do fine no matter where he ends up.

I’m in Louisville which is about an hour and a half from Cincinnati. I’ll just put my FD uniform on, say it’s official business and ask Jon what’s up? Stay tuned for updates, or if I need bail money :)
My son went to culinary school at Sullivan in Louisville. Like the place. Have you tried their bakery or restaurant there? Good food! The students do the cooking there.

This ain't it.. but..

Just hire Coach Nguyen!!!!! Who cares what the name is. Just Nguyen. If ya don't know, google. Good night fellow Vols!

Hmmm. Some one tweeted at Tony B with the Les rumor and he quoted it with Grumors. Maybe I’m reading too much in to it?

Let's be clear. Up to this point the total budget for coaches appears to be in the $10 to $11 million range including assistants. We aren't going to spend Jimbo Fisher/Nick Saban money while we are in buyout limbo.

My pure guess is a $10 million cap for all coaches going into a building program with a bit of wiggle room for "extraordinary hires". Gruden, Patterson, Peterson, and anybody else at $8 to $11 million a year were never a real option. If you look at the search through this lens, it makes more sense. We are going to get someone like Miles, Pruitt or Steele who we can bring in for around $5 million a year including buyout.

Go ahead and blast me but who is Thunder?

John "Thunder" Thornton

How made money: Residential development. Started out selling knockoff rugs, eventually selling to Mohawk Industries in 1993 for $34 million.
How much donated: N/A
School song/cheer: "Rocky Top"
Braggin' Rights: Sits on the University of Tennessee board of trustees, which oversee the state's major colleges. ... Longtime football coach Phillip Fulmer counts him among his best friends. Thornton is also tight with Lady Vols coach Pat Summitt. ... Behind-the-scenes player in Fulmer's bid to uncover dirt on Alabama football program.
The Buzz: After selling his rug company, "Thunder" gave $1 million to Tennessee for the chance to run with the football team through the "Power T" formed by the marching band during a game at Neyland Stadium. Money went toward an athletic student life center -- the Thornton Center. ... His Chattanooga home, a log-style Wyoming lodge design, is so massive it's called "Thunderdome."

Thunder Thornton is a Tennessee booster who is big buddies with Phil. He is rumored to be one of the boosters involved with Gruden talk. He has a son named Johnny, I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

His son's name is Johnny. I was a TA for a geology class that he was in back in the early 2000's.

Wednesday? hmmmm. Interesting, I'll go to the course tomorrow and see if any football people are there. There will be a LOT of happy UGA members for sure!

Maybe he is saying all these Les rumors are just like Grumors? They are starting to feel that way. I don't see any legitimate reports, just message board chatter.
