HC options

Have you ever left a job for a better one? That happens in America every single day. Nothing immoral or unethical about it.

No. I have no issue with him coaching at Louisville. I just said he was a slime ball. The man can coach some football though

Petrino is & was a "leaver". Bruce Pearl would take the UT job right here, right now with no second thoughts. He loves the University & Knoxville. But, he WILL coach again some day & if not in Knoxville he will succeed elsewhere. Book it.

I know and i'll be sick watching him take another program to the tournament every year......I miss Bruce :cray:

We're not getting any proven head coach. You really think Hart/Cheek will invest in anything other than some nobody that we've never heard of? Heck, (disclaimer... I love Butch and what he's doing), they didn't even go after a big name in the cash cow that is football. What makes anybody think they're going to pay a big name, established coach?

Again, what NCAA baggage? Personal baggage, sure, I get that.

The Petrino-Pearl comparison is apples to oranges though.

Pearl violated NCAA rules at Tennessee and was fired by Tennessee.

Petrino left Louisville on his own accord for a better job in a different league for more money. Louisville has rehired him

Just to point out, I started this thread by saying HC options other than Pearl. However, the argument that Petrino did nothing wrong at Louisville so it's a good idea to hire him back is just a bad argument IMO. His actions after he left are relevant and this will back fire on Louisville. Mark my words.

They aren't, and if they somehow do, it will be the first time in history on the basketball front. This ath dept is historically stingy on the basketball coaching front.

Clearly he's a moron. You can disagree with someone's opinion and discuss it like adults.

I know. I enjoy the discussion. I said it was my understanding and certainly didn't profess to be an expert on Petrino's or Louisville's NCAA history. I noticed that guy hasn't bothered to respond yet.

Diamond in the rough types. Mid major guys looking for a paycheck. People will find out about their next head coach by google lol

Okay, but then you posted this...

If Louisville can rehire Petrino, then we can hire rehire Pearl. What Petrino did at the 'Ville was a lot worse than lying about a BBQ.

I'm not saying it's a good idea for Louisville to have rehired Petrino, or that it's a bad idea. That never really has been my argument.

I'm just saying that for the sake of argument, there is really no logical comparison between the Pearl/Tennessee argument and the Petrino/Louisville argument.

Who is this? Assume you don't mean former UGA QB.

I think the two best that might give us a serious look have already been mentioned - Smart and Mack.
