Exactly. I'm sure Illinois and UCLA offered more or similar money. No way he leaves VCU unless he gets a really really nice contract.

I'd offer him 6 years at $2.5 million per as a start. Is that so unreasonable?

Jim Larranaga at Miami(Fla) would be a better catch. Throw a bank vault of money at Him because He's done a great job making the Canes into a strong program.

Smart makes $1.45 million. Offer to double it.

Also, he went to my wife's alma mater. It's a small school with a pretty great alumni network. I'll have her get in touch with some people to gauge his interest.

He has a 10-year deal for $1.5 million right now at VCU. And not near the responsibility or expectations of a UCLA or Illinois...or Tennessee.

So if we offered him a one million dollar raise per year he wouldn't consider that? Do the VCU admin and boosters (if there are any) have incriminating photos of him sniffing coke off a hooker's back or something?

What's funny is that UT athletics is probably wealthier than UK, but we continue to shop at damn Wal-Mart for HCs.

It is pathetic, but like I said, we've never done it before, so I wouldn't get my hopes up for us to back up the Brinks truck to any coaches door.

I'd almost bet UCLA and Illinois offered to double his salary. He turned them down. Is Tennessee a better job than those?

Lawrence Frank is a high possibility if we offer imo. The only problem is, we're a stepping stone.
