Recruiting Forum: Football Talk VIII

--True freshmen running backs Derrick Henry, Alvin Kamara and Tyren Jones continued to work on the scout team. Henry wore No. 20, which belongs to Tennessee running back Rajion Neal. Kamara and Jones wore No. 15, which belongs to Vols tailback Marlin Lane.

Yeah. That's what I call depth. I can't wait till we have a scout team like that.

--True freshmen quarterbacks Luke Del Rio, Parker McLeod and Cooper Bateman are playing the role of Tennessee quarterback Justin Worley on the scout teams.

--Some popular defensive scout team numbers: No. 17 (LB Brent Brewer), No. 41 (LB Dontavis Sapp), No. 45 (LB A.J. Johnson), No. 55 (DL Jacques Smith), No. 97 (DL Daniel Hood), and No. 98 (Daniel McCullers).

David Pollack ‏@davidpollack47:

I love what Butch Jones is doing & have as much respect for him as any coach in CFB. Tenn will be back soon!

Every evening, Pollack pours a cup of scotch, and weeps bitterly that he had to play for UGA, and couldn't have been born later, so he could play for Butch.

FWIW -

"@DrewDALIntel: Hearing LaMichael Fanning is no longer with the football program & NG Brandon Ivory will be suspended for the Tennessee game this weekend"

Good for Palardy. He's having a very Zach Rogersesque senior year. Totally trashed for his first three years, then a breakout senior year. It's actually better than Rogers, though. Palardy really might be our best overall player right now. Hard to believe.

Who knew that instead of a liability, Palardy would be arguably our best weapon.

Serious question.... Are you guys not worried about how UA's WRs matchup with our DBs?

Say what you want, but Norwood is a solid WR. He would probably start for us. Runs good routes and is a solid possession guy.

Kenny Bell is a guy that can stretch the field. Very fast. Burns defenses on play action. We all know what Amari Cooper can do. O.J. Howard is a threat from the TE/H-Back position.

Outside of Sutton, we are undoubtedly screwed at the CB position. I think Toney is slowly progressing, but he's still a liability in coverage. Coleman got beat twice in last year's game, so I'm sure he will get picked on.

Maybe if we get enough pressure on AJ, he will force throws, or have to dump it off or hit his hot route. We need to try and get them in 3rd and long early. So we can see their sets and looks and maybe we can adjust in the 2nd half.

We'll get pressure. Safeties reads are key. I think we'll be fine.

All Sal jokes aside, the loss of Sunseri is going to be a major blow to Bama's D, and not many people have taken note of that. He is the quarterback of their D.

Agreed. He makes all the calls for the secondary. I don't know their roster too well, I'm guessing Landon Collins replaces him?

In this interview Corey Miller talks about how to motivate Dan McCullers:

It sounds to me like someone needs to give McCullers the John Henderson pregame warmup. (Not me though)

Language warning (most is bleeped).

-- Cornerback Bradley Sylve spent the seven minutes of the viewing period doing drills with head trainer Jeff Allen. His sprained left ankle was taped and Sylve was moving without a bad limp. But is he ready for full contact and practice? That's doubtful. He wore the black jersey for players held out of contact drills.

I think Collins has filled in some at CB recently and now with Vinnie out Collins falls back to strong safety which I think is his real position on the team. I think Fulton is the favorite at CB. He's a senior but it's my understanding he gets picked on a lot, by everybody, so I got the impression that the fans aren't really thrilled about that.

"Les was handed the program on a silver platter and has been running it into the ground ever since."

If that's a program that's been run into the ground then I'm Al Sharpton.

Sans SC, who really knows what the cellar of the SEC feels like (it's practically memorialized after their 0-11 season), I wish each one of those fans would have to endure three seasons of "Precious" at the helm.

Perspective...they have none.

Reading some of the meltdowns. Calling for a coaches head. You can't expect championships every year. Lsu uga USC and Florida should be happy they compete every year. They want thier coaches fired, and as the old saying goes, be careful what you wish for, just might get it.
