Serious question.... Are you guys not worried about how UA's WRs matchup with our DBs?

Say what you want, but Norwood is a solid WR. He would probably start for us. Runs good routes and is a solid possession guy.

Kenny Bell is a guy that can stretch the field. Very fast. Burns defenses on play action. We all know what Amari Cooper can do. O.J. Howard is a threat from the TE/H-Back position.

Outside of Sutton, we are undoubtedly screwed at the CB position. I think Toney is slowly progressing, but he's still a liability in coverage. Coleman got beat twice in last year's game, so I'm sure he will get picked on.

Maybe if we get enough pressure on AJ, he will force throws, or have to dump it off or hit his hot route. We need to try and get them in 3rd and long early. So we can see their sets and looks and maybe we can adjust in the 2nd half.

No, because I feel we are playing with house money after beating South Carolina.

Apparently Herbstreit put Bama on upset alert on Sportscenter a few minutes ago. Herbie gets it.

Well, now their going to know we are coming to win. Thanks again Herbstreit. He just wants Bama to lose so Ohio can get into the NC game against Oregon.

"Jones also challenged his team with three-on-three drills inside the 10-yard line in goal-to-goal situations and also worked several matchups in the "circle of life" bull-ring drill, even sending out seldom-used junior college tight end Woody Quinn on back-to-back matchups."

"The Vols continued to work heavy special teams, with Jones urging players to show "competitive fight" and to work to "deserve to win" on Saturday.

Jones bellowed at tailback Rajion Neal, saying that Neal needed to wear a No. 18 jersey against the Crimson Tide because that's what Jones said Neal had gained against the Tide. Neal missed last year's game with an injury and had 42 combined rushing yards in his first two games against Alabama.

Fundamentals also were a heavy emphasis on both sides of the ball, with the offensive linemen working on the five-man sled while defensive players focused on tackling. Specifically, Vols defensive backs worked on diving tackles against the elevated dummies on tackling pads."

Riley, Jacob Carter, Josh Smith, and Bullard were limited in practice.

JONES: Justin Worley was wearing gloves just to try something new. The ball slipped out of his hands a bit last week.

Very interesting IMO. I hope it works. He seemed just slightly off on a few throws last week and it would be nice if this fixes it. If so, I really think his numbers will go up. I think we are very close to having a dangerous passing game.

Spurrier is suggesting because of our rb forward pass call that all runners facing a loss on a sweep should just throw an incomplete pass. Here is my question, if you throw the ball out of bounds, can you get an ineligible man downfield penalty?

I've thought about this for years, like literally I've probably been thinking this for a decade. It appeared to make sense on reverses and especially on fake reverse pass plays.

I hadn't thought about what you mentioned, which is a good point, but I did see this happen before and a guy threw it, it got batted up in the air and picked off. May have gone for a TD.

I remember seeing that and being like "oh yeah... that's a dumb idea. I'm dumb."

Also on plays like that one you run the risk of it being called a fumble and you're at the mercy of the camera angles.

Seems like a lot could go wrong for 3 or 4 yards.

Only by accident did Butch Jones say the name of Tennessee’s next opponent Tuesday on the practice field.

After ‘Yeah, Alabama!’ and ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ had played over the practice-field speakers during stretch and warm-up periods, Jones shouted in the direction of running backs coach Robert Gillespie.

“Come on, Robert! Both your backs combined don’t have 100 yards rushing against Alabama!”

That’s when Jones caught — and corrected — himself.

“I’m sorry, the red team!”

...

Jones started practice with ’sudden change,’ putting together spontaneous 3-on-3 linemen work at the 10-yard line, with three offensive linemen against three defensive linemen and a running back in the backfield.

The drill prompted Jones to shout in the direction of freshman offensive linemen Brett Kendrick, “Come on, Kendrick! I-AA player!”

That was followed by ‘The Circle of Life,’ which featured a lot of tight end Woody Quinn and was ended with Jacques Smith taking on AJ Johnson.

Jones picked on his defensive ends early in practice, telling them they got a chance to “see what real tackles are about” when facing Alabama left tackle Cyrus Kouandjio.

“Let’s go, Miller!” he shouted at Corey Miller. “You get to face the best tackle in the country!”

Which seniors have NFL interest?

"Good question, had a chance to talk with a couple of people around the program about it today and get some informed responses.

Obviously Fulton and James are likely to be drafted and the feeling is that Stone will at the very least be in someone's camp as a free agent if not as a draft pick.

One of the most intriguing responses I got was from someone who felt like Dan Hood would have a chance to make a team as an offensive guard if he made the switch.

Feedback I got suggested that Sapp would have a chance to hook up with a team either as a free agent or late round guy and maybe make a roster.

The feeling is that Neal is the kind of guy who will probably turn in great pro day numbers and be intriguing for a lot of teams, especially if he can produce in the last half of the season.

Was told that Corey Miller and Jacques Smith would probably have an opportunity as free agents at least to make a team.

A couple of people I talked to felt like Palardy would be a valuable commodity as a free agent if he isn't drafted. Since he can handle all the kicking chores teams will be able to save a roster spot in training camp by having him handle punting and place-kicking duties, which will make him attractive."

No mention of M. Walls. Surprising.

No mention of M. Walls. Surprising.

Someone asked about Walls and Rob followed up with this...

Asked about Marlon, was told might have a shot at hooking up with someone in camp, but the feeling was he's a little undersized and/or a little slow depending on whether you're projecting him as a DT or DE.

They can get Boyds maybe, but no way to get prove who they were to. Bookie ditches his number today, they call it to see who Boyd was calling, number no longer in service. Phone provider won't release to whom it belonged without court order. No proof will ever come of this. They had signed confessions from Shapiro, players, and bag man at Miami, did nothing. Same will happen here.

I have some experience trying to obtain cell phone records for court cases I've worked on. Most companies purge their records after 30 days. FWIW.

On injuries:

"Bullard's left ankle was heavily taped and was limited today and had a noticeable limp. Saulsberry practiced today and looked good moving around.

Josh Smith was limited as well as he tries to return from a hamstring injury.

Finally, Justin Worley was wearing gloves during practice because of his injured hand."

About the 3 min mark Neal says he wants to either outrush everybody in the game this week or get carried off the field.
