'14 TN DB Rashaan Gaulden (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Could Gaulden get a bump in the rankings?

He could definitely get a bump. We have talked to a lot of people, both in the college game and involved with the ratings, who think Gaulden would have been a potential five-star guy if he hadn't sat out in 2012.

ABSOLUTELY! Glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks that. He is a GREAT player, and I hope he develops into a player for us.

I hate to do the comparison thing a lot with kids, because it is so hard to do that with 17-18 year old kids, but he reminds me of a Dale Carter type kid. He's big, but not tall like a D. Grant or overly physical like a Fred White, but he is just smooth in space, instinctive, and deceptively fast.

who is corner36? have been seeing him quoted many times. sorry if already posted.

Buck Fitzgerald I believe. He has been high on Gaulden since I can remember.
I said month ago, I believe he is top 100 or 150 for sure, upgrade that to top 50. It'll be hard to see them bump him 5 star top 25 player even though I believe he should be strongly considered and deserve it.

"Just a quick note here, Woody was at his game on Friday night and Gaulden was slowed with a groin injury so he didn't really get to see his best performance Friday night.

While it's true we've had multiple people tell us his recruitment would be on a different level had he played last year, that doesn't mean others, including our analysts see it like that.

He's a very good player that is certainly a top 250 guy, if not higher, but I just don't want everyone going and thinking Gaulden's getting a bump and may not and everyone be mad come the next rankings go around."

"Hey guys thought I would chime in on this thread since I rank the state of Tennessee. Obviously I've been higher on Gaulden than others (we bumped him to a four-star and into the tail end of 250 in May and then he was bumped out of the 250 in August). So him missing the season didn't really play into where he's been ranked, I saw what I needed to see from him to make him a four-star during the spring.

He's had a very good season so far despite playing on a team where it's tough to him to have the kind of impact on offense that he probably would in another system.

He'll be in the mix to jump back in the 250 next time around but safety is a very deep position this year so I don't have an idea of how that will shake out, especially with there figuring to be a ton of moves after the national team has been out on the road scouting guys in person every weekend."

I don't get the deep safety class talk. So what? There are not 24 safeties better than Gaulden and I doubt there are 5.

(I know he will get a shot at corner, that is just where rivals has him ranked at)

"I missed a couple of tackles and I'm not very happy and those could have been touchdown saving tackles and overall I'm not happy with missing those tackles at all," Gaulden said.

There to take in Gaulden's performance, one that wasn't shabby at all by normal standards, was Tennessee's linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen. The Friday night visit from one of the 6-foot-1, 175-pound safety's top recruiters meant a lot to him.

"It's big. He's one of the lead recruiters in getting me on board and he's a great guy. I appreciate him supporting me and Vic out here as Vols," Gaulden said.

"I feel like I can play anywhere in the defensive backfield," Gaulden said. "As soon as we get this recruiting class in there I feel like we have winners going there. I want to be surrounded by winners and some good coaches. That's all I'm asking for."

He goes on to say that he's REALLY excited to get to UT.

Rankings are a joke. Don't understand why you guys even get worried about them. .tf does sitting out 2012 have to do with this kid not being aamongst highest ranked players in the country.

His f'n film is phenomenal. His camp were outstanding. And they are saying he "could have been"

Gtfoh

Hurd, Gaulden, & TKJr are amongst the top players in the country. Me or anyone else who has understands a drop of football dont need some dweeb at rivals or 247 or scout to tell me that

I've asked Schurburt about M.Humphrey's ranking being higher than Tabor he dodged all kinds of bullets. As soon as I started asking football skill questions he rattled off the potential BS answer. I've been laughing at those clowns for a while. Wonder what they'll have to say about Sutton. :)

Florida offered but Bama didn't so they didn't care to really check him out.

Sutton was a 3 star and this kid has been great starting as a true freshmen. He is going to make some mistakes but he looks like is going to be a future star on the defense in the future.
