'14 TN DB Rashaan Gaulden (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Easily one of my favorite recruits for this class, love seeing some mid-state boys playing on the hill

You rang?

O my god his slap/chop/dip was INSANE!!!!!

Gaulden makes more sense on outside at CB and Payne inside at nickel. Size is much less of a detriment playing nickel. CBJ and Jancek want more height and length on outside at CB. Payne seems to be a great fit at nickel. Very fast and quick.

He is way to good playing centerfield and also in run support.

Safety all the way. Maybe the 5 or 10 early on.

I honestly don't know where he'll line up. I guess it could be anywhere in the secondary or even occasionally on the other side of the ball but we could have definitely used a 10 package on Georgia's pass-happy game tying drive Saturday. I guess we don't have the bodies right now. This class cannot get here soon enough.

I agree.

I tell you something else. If we'd had him at safety Saturday I don't think Murray get's his career long rushing gain. Both of our safeties (Randolph and McNeil) had their hands on him and couldn't bring him down. I like both of those guys but that was totally embarrassing. I hope Butch points that out to them over and over on his mic this week when we get back to basics.

Good point. I think Murray gets off the turf with what we used to call a "blue light special."

The secondary was shown it's weaknesses this week. I knew UGA would go opposite 23. And the other two guys didn't respond well at all.

Didn't Conley catch a fade route TD over Cam early in the game? I mean it was a perfect pass and very well defended so I don't know what you do in that situation except what he did.

I think the NB is our weakest link in the secondary right now but my issue was we have Brian who I like, SEC defensive player of week Brian, and Murray skates right on by him. C'mon Brian. That can't happen.

The Conley TD was on Coleman. He had good position, just a great throw by Murray and an even better catch by Conley.

Sutton was out of the game for what reason I have no idea. He shouldn't come off the field unless it's an equipment issue. We don't have anyone else to roll in that's good.

CB all day, he and Sutton will rival the Purifoy/Roberson duo. We've got Kelly and McDowell to handle the safety duties. :)

You might be right. I just see him as a better safety. He has been crazy good in run support this year and has extremely good read-react closing skills on the pass.

I think a big physical CB forcing plays back to McDowell and Kelly will be fun to watch. Plus CB is much weaker than safety right now. The drop off after Sutton is crazy. Rihayd Jones and Williams need to get up to speed in a hurry.

I'm hoping we can put Jones at CB after the bye week and Coleman at Nickel, that is of course if Jones is good enough to be out there.
