V Bell's coach on Ainge's show this morning

It's funny that anyone would fall for that line of crap--especially from Durban Cryer. I could have understood him going to Bama with that philosophy, but not OSU. Bama would have beaten OSU just as bad as they beat ND.

Urbie won't have the success at OSU that he had at Fla--he ain't got the speed nor the hosses--and he ain't got TIM TEBOW. Fla got a lot of guys who wanted to play with Tebow--just like we got a lot of guys in the 90s who wanted to play with Shuler and Manning. Braxton Miller is good, but not Tebow good--I don't care how he tries to sell him. And 2013 is do or die for Durbie...after this year, Durbie won't ever make it into the playoff. :salute:

Braxton Miller's pretty damn good man.

How can you possibly blame an elite player for picking a school that just went undefeated with a 2 time national championship coach?

I'm not mad at VB at all, nor do I have any criticism for VB. We will be okay at Tennessee without him.

However, there are some facts that an elite Southern FB player would have to consider when a Wus-10 coach attempts to sell a NC within 2 years:

1. Durbie hasn't won anything since Tim Tebow graduated from Fla--and Braxton Miller AIN'T Tim Tebow!
2. Durbie inherited a decent group of players--but UM will be tougher this year--and OSU will HAVE to go undefeated to get to the NC game--that means beating UM at the big house. Ain't gonna happen!
3. Durbie won 2 NC with the Gators--SEC team--a 1-loss OSU team doesn't have the prestige of a 1-loss SEC team. How many undefeated seasons has OSU had in the last 10 years???
4. 2014 begins the 4 team playoff format. Good luck getting into the top 4 from the WUS-10 with 1 loss--unless you're the conference champion--and my money will be on Michigan over OSU.

Like I said earlier--I have nothing against VB--absolutely nothing. And, objectively speaking--OSU is way closer to playing for a NC than our beloved VOLS are right now. But, if you want to win a NC in 2 years, or impress the NFL scouts--staying in the SEC is the way to go--not OSU.

Therefore, I claim smokescreen and really believe the guy just played everyone like a cheap guitar. I don't care either way--our recruits for 2014 will make everyone forget about VB! GO VOLS! Behind CBJ ALL the way! :salute:

He still looked like Urkel in that outfit and suspenders. What is going to be funny is he goes up there and never starts. Just because he has a 5* beside his name does not mean nothing once you get to college. If he came to Tn did not mean he would start here either. Tn have seen their share of 5* busts. Tn will be fine without Urkel. Let him go and would surprise me if he last 4 years at OS.
Nothing is a guarantee once you get to college.

the kid can play that's why we are so pissed. Don't think for a minute he won't play.

He may play but he is not a difference maker. A good athlete, yes. An Eric Berry or Ed Reed type difference maker on defense, no. He did not stand out in several games in a relatively weak region. Five star players stand out against any level of competition and he was flat out shut down in the state championship game. I have watched several Ridgeland games and he was not even the best player on his own team many times. Bridges, the starting rb out played him in several games. I have never understood his five star rating. He is a good player but not the level he is being made out to be.

his coach said Vonn felt like OSU had the pieces in place already to compete on a national level. Picking UT would have been an emotional choice while picking OSU was a business one

hard to disagree

This is the problem i have with this recruiting class. Butch and Co. did on OK job but we need to be able to sell that we can compete in the next few years because we NEED to be competing in the next 3-4 years. UT is a power house program that has all the peices to win we just need the players and coaches, hopefully we have some of them

13-14mo process choosing schools and establishing relationships

had given up on UT

VB’s coach- CBJ and staff were impressive

Family went on UT OV just to appease Vonn but came away very impressed

Hard for the coach to get a return phone call from Knoxville (Dooley’s staff)

locked in decision on Tues night between UT and OSU

carl withers secondary coach for urban liar cryer was in constant contact with bell for over a year, while dd was asleep at the wheel. Butch needs to fax those prospect sheets to every HS coach within 5hrs of Knoxville !

Braxton Miller's pretty damn good man.

Didn't say he wasn't good. I was responding to GAVOL's post about VB choosing to sign with OSU--a program with an undefeated season and a coach who has won 2 NCs.

My point was--no Tim Tebow--no 2 NCs for Creyer! Little urbie Creyer's record in the SEC without Tebow = 17-8; with Tebow, he was 48-7 with 2 NCs. Do you think BM is the kind of a player who can make that big of a difference? I certainly don't--and BM hasn't shown that ability to this date.

If VB expects to win a NC at OSU--he should've done his due diligence. It will take an undefeated WUS-10 team to get into the NC game--when's the last time OSU went undefeated when it really mattered? 2013 will be their last realistic chance with their favorable schedule.

If VB wanted to play for a NC within 2-4 years--his BEST choice would have been Bama--I believe everyone on Volnation could accept his desire to play for a NC with Bama. But going to play in the WUS-10 for a snake like Creyer just doesn't add up, no matter what he says.

I expect our beloved VOLS to be in the SEC championship game with CBJ in 3 or 4 years--without VB! GO VOLS! :salute:

...OSU had been, and always will be second rate to just about every SEC team they may face in the future.
...Btw screw Dooley. I can't believe the cowboys hired him. I just want to live in a world where one of the football teams I cheer for is not presently counting on Derek Dooley to help us win.
...I say good luck to the kid, unless he plays us, ...
I hope somehow in the next 4 years that we can get a match-up with OS in a bowl game.
2-3 yrs. from now, envision TN and OSU in a bowl game, the Vols blistering the Buckeyes, North and Croom light up VB like a can of Sterno, and that is the year that Dallas gets the 1st round draft and choose VB; who then plays for Dooley. :whistling:

More recently than us. :cray:
Nope! The question was referencing conferences I do believe.

Vonn said in an interview with Fox Sports Next that he could't wait 2 years to win a national championship. He felt like OSU will win sooner.

Well hate to say it but I hope like hell osu gets bama in the ncg, and bama kicks that azz. Urban left UF cause he could see bama was going to dominate the field he had been top dog on. Guess what Urbie---you still gotta deal with saban. Much as I hate bammer---I loath OSU.

Seriously? Squeaking by IU and a terrible MSU team? Are you talking about the 2 time NC coach that had the highest arrest record in the SEC and the team with the most potheads and thieves? OH, OK then.

I can't root for other SEC teams and if I wasn't raised a Tennessee fan I would probably hate the SEC completely. I would have to root for OSU.

I know V. Bell personally. Great kid. Dooley dropped the ball. He had no relationship with his coaches whatsoever. Ohio State got themselves a real gem. Vols are going to be back, but not during his career.

There's a better shot at the Drive-in coming back to Dunlap

You're the one that said the Vols will be back. Just not sure how you can say this but also say it won't be in the next 4 years. Just thought you could let me know when it would happen oracle.
