V Bell's coach on Ainge's show this morning

Since his firing, we've heard he did this far too often....I hope he's not another gift that "keeps on giving" like Lame Kitten is/was.

Good point, but then again CLK worked pretty hard while here at being both a good recruiter and a dirtbag.

Dooley just worked at being a narcissist.
Shouldnt be too hard to fix.

Foolishness. He's trying to make a decision about where to go to college.... you know... for his career. It has very little to do with being a fan.

If you want to go to a school, then by all means go to that school...don't string along a school with empty promises forcing them to waste valuable time on you when you have no intention of going there in the first place. Bell said it came down to a tues night decision…bull shat! You mean to tell me that Bell just suddenly realized that osu was in a better position to win a championship right away verses UT the night before nsd…. No way…I agree with other posters that Bell used UT to hype his decision on national TV for the attention and that he is in fact a prima donna punk @zz and that going to osu may have in fact, been a business decision, but he should have handled the situation differently…people around him should have handled it differently….…

Look as a recovering "Dool-aide Drinker", everything I've heard from this kid, the family, and reporters is that Derek Dooley gets 100% blame when it comes to that miss. The very fact that CBJ could get a hat on the table as a legitimate candidate after the train-wreck he inherited on this particular recruit tells me that CBJ CAN RECRUIT.

+1..... I was suckered in by Dooley. Was a supporter till the Miss St game.

We really needed Bell. He was one of the few that seemed comfortable and well spoken during his announcment. Was blindsided when he said the OSU.

Gotta give Kiffy some credit there. He did put the time in and the interests of the football program 1st and foremost... at least until USC came calling.

I'm over the Kiffin anger. He left and looks like he made a big mistake. I have no doubts that he would've been much more successful here if he had stayed, and with it more security.

Vonn said in an interview with Fox Sports Next that he could't wait 2 years to win a national championship. He felt like OSU will win sooner.

Translation: He couldn't wait 2 years to win a NC because he's going pro.

RT,
exactly. And please don't compliment the staff. There is nothing worse for a salesman (and these coaches are) to hear how good of a job you did, while the prospect buys from someone else.
Don't say you believe this staff will get it turned around while your actions don't demonstrate you believe that at all.
Just make your decision and go on.

On another note, people hate UM for the same reason they hate Saban. He freakin wins. OSU went out and spent big bucks and look how it pays off. undefeated while under probation. Excuses? None.
Butch may get it done, but he'll have to build that rep from scratch. As it stands he is way overpaid. Hugh Freeze makes half. Did you hear that? HALF. $1.5.
Sumlin was hired at $2mil. Yes, $2million. I hope CBJ wins and becomes a $5mil coach. But folks he is not at this juncture, and this just shows that the problems and incompetence at UT are still there. The facts are all there. How does the UTAD justify this?

Get over UT winning a NC in four years. Meyer will likely have them there next year. The guy can flat coach and recruit. He is the only one who can hold a candle to Saban. Although Kelly isn't far behind. Another top 5 class of ND.

The coach said going to osu was a business decision? BS. After college or the NFL a player still has a life. Being loved by the state school of your home state means valuable contacts for that time. Contributing to a school from another state is nowhere near as useful.

OSU is one of the largest schools in country. He will have plenty of contacts nation wide. I may not be happy with his decision but bottom line it was a smart one.

Dooley failed to establish the early relationship that would have brought him to TN even after the coaching change. CBJ did everything he could to fix that in under 2 months while CUM had a whole year to sell VB on his program. At the end of the day VB just had more info and better relationship with CUM and tOSU.

It's not hard to figure out.

Dooley should have been tarred and feathered on the way out of Knoxville for ignoring Bell and recruiting in general for a year.

Urban's national title rings were bigger than Butch's Big East Championship rings.

No one should have been surprised or shocked by Bell's decision.

I hope the best for the kid on an individual basis but the team he is on ranks up there with USC and ND as far as my most hated outside the SEC. I hope he never sniffs a title under that SOB Meyer.

I'm talking about his situation 15 years down the road. And you are right, he will be a star either place but Peyton didn't win a championship, did he? There is a difference between being loved and just being an alumnus.

Peyton wasn't from TN..

his coach said Vonn felt like OSU had the pieces in place already to compete on a national level. Picking UT would have been an emotional choice while picking OSU was a business one

hard to disagree
If that was what drove his decision why not Alabama?

It really pissed me off when Bell announced and afterwards the guys on ESPNU were talking to Dooley and they said to Dooley Vonn Bell is a kid you know well. They made it out to sound like Dooley had been recruiting him the whole time he was coach. I wanted to throw the T.V when Dooley started talking, us fans know he didn't do a dam thing to get Bell here and he was just on TV bulls****ing.

My Buckeye colleague says the high school coach said the OSU recruiter was the most professional coach he had encountered in his 24-year career.

The coach said going to osu was a business decision? BS. After college or the NFL a player still has a life. Being loved by the state school of your home state means valuable contacts for that time. Contributing to a school from another state is nowhere near as useful.

And what business decision did he make exactly? Kids don't get paid to go to these universities(at least they are not supposed to). If he is talking about an education standpoint, a degree from a state school with a solid GPA will land you a decent job assuming you pick a major that provides you with a true skillset to use in the real world(sorry philosophy majors). And Tennessee has put more players in the NFL in the last 20 year than OSU(including having tied for the most Pro-Bowlers this past season), so that can't be it.

Truth is Vonn decided to be a frontrunner for a team in a shaky conference as opposed to practicing what he preached as far as his 'love' for the Vols. I hope none of his family comes to games anymore. They need to start their new allegiance in Columbus and stick with it. I can't stand people that want to act like the Vols is their favorite team when they played a major role in sending their kid elsewhere. Tells me that they are the coffee sipping part time fans that is one of the major problems with our current fan base.

Last point, while I don't agree with calling him a punk, he is an 18 year old(adult age) that made a decision and needs to accept the good and bad that comes with it. Some of us diehards have backed the Vols for over 30 years and see it as a slap in the face when a kid references a choice to which school he will attend to predominantly play free football as a 'business decision'.

And if future and past recruits do read this, please just tell the truth and say you wanted to go somewhere to where you can stack a team and win as opposed to accept the challenge of building a team back to where it once was. The bs excuses just makes it worse in the end.

That being said good luck to Vonn. Can't say I'll be paying much attention to you from this point on.

+1...plus the fact that Vonn Bell telephoned Butch Jones on Tuesday evening and told him he was committing to Tennessee....is he a liar?

He needs to re-think that thought process. With the likes of Alabama, LSU, UF, and aTm being stacked like they are it is highly unlikely that OSU could beat one fo these teams in the next 4 years. OSU had been, and always will be second rate to just about every SEC team they may face in the future.

Shows how misinformed the kid is.
1. Osu is not in the sec. So theres no nc in his future.
2. If qb miller turns an ankle, osu is 8-4 (see post-tebow gators under Meyer)
3. Urban Meyer is an unusually good liar.
4. Eric Berry played on 3 teams that had no chance to win a nc and signed a $60,000,000 contract.
