Per Slice the 18 mil is a one man deal. I believe other deals will be had though. If what LWS is saying about Haslam is true it sounds like they may be exploring it.

I'm with both camps, yes Gruden is your best shot if you can at least get the guy to use some lube and play ball. If he won't though you absolutely cannot give the keys to the castle to him just so he can show the world how valuable he is and how desperate we were.

If Hart was AD at Alabama and was looking for a new football coach, does anyone really think that he would actually consider hiring Fedora, Golden, Strong, or some other lackluster coach much less even interview them!!!!

Hell no he wouldn't.

Why is it so much easier for us to pile on hart and put the blame on him??

Jon Gruden has a LONG history of doing this to a number of schools and clearly is after nothing but keeping his name on the rumor mill.

Why not place all the blame on his shoulders and support Dave Hart in finding us the best football coach to win games and not press conferences?

I disagree the way hart has botched this, there are very names that can be hired and help season ticket sales. No matter who is hired a very realistic record is between 5-7 and 7-5. If its somebody like golden ticket sales will be less this year and after that kind of season will be less the next year as well. He will have to go 8-4 or better in year two or moat will not back because they didnt support the hire in the first place. Is it fair, not really but it is reality.

I agree. People always want a bad guy and we are so far willing to make Gruden the saint in this somehow. Come on does anyone really believe Hart would piss on a deal with Gruden if it was a workable deal? If not Finebaum and Art Bell have open lines and are waiting for your calls.

My co-worker Smokey who played for U of Miami Lorenzo Roan athletic career, photos, articles, and videos | Fanbase under Coach S at UM have been talking for weeks about our coaching search. He played with many NFL greats like Jim Kelly, Jim Burtt, etc.. and is friends with lots of people. I asked him to call one of his friends Otis Anderson and Jim Kelly who both played at UM and NFL just to see if they heard anything.

He called Otis Anderson and spoke to him while I was there and he only heard Gruden name being mentioned in NFL circles but he didn't think he would take it but he just thought it made no sense for his career and he knows Gruden personally and told Smokey that he loves living in Tampa.

He also called his buddy Jim Kelly who is susposed to be coming down to Miami to go fishing with Smokey but he didn't answer his cell phone but Smokey promised me he would talk to him and see what he knows or has heard.

He is also good friends with Mark Richt as they played at UM together but Mark Richt was a backup QB to Kelly on that team. Some of the stories he has told me about Richt were classic and funny. I told him Richt is a bigtime christian or what he portrays to recruits and Smokey almost fell out of his chair laughing!!!!! He said "That dam% Richt hasn't changed one bit"!!!! If he speaks to Jim Kelly and tells me and if we haven't found our coach yet, I'll post what Kelly knows.

I didn't say hart was going to win the season ticket war with this hire. Gruden was the only realistic name that could do that and he proved he wasn't realistic. All hart should worry about is hiring a coach that will win regardless of its public perception.

This 1000 times this. No one doesn't want Gruden, no one.

But does Gruden want us?

People are assuming Gruden is the saint when in reality he is the one with the history of being the run away bride.

Guys..and Gals...honest question...is there an AD on the planet that wouldn't close the deal with Gruden if they had a realistic chance? Consider your answers carefully.

The timing is worst thing for me. Hart knew grudens demands from the start, if he knew he couldnt meet them the talks should have been over before now. Instead it played out to the point of getting the fan base excited just to let them down and basically screw the next coach. No matter who we end up with, unless this is truly part of a plan for gruden, this is one of the worst coaching searches i have ever seen. At least when dooley was hired they made you think he was the only one that wanted it, and i wanted to back somebody that really wanted to be here.

What about Chip Kelly at Oregon? Does anybody think that would be a possibility? I know he runs the spread and would take a couple of years to recruit a spread running QB but was curious what everybody thinks about him?
