Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

Well depending on who you believe looks like Jimmy heard things he didn't like and pulled the plug.. I think this thread needs to get used to the idea that Dave Hart is a chess player

For once, I don't think the Haslams were the ones driving this with Gruden. If they were, I doubt Hart would still be employed.

What they have said is probably closer to the truth than anything else you have heard. They said it two months before the fact. Even said for you to look for it to appear to fall through at the end.

What makes me mad on here is the people who refer to you as an idiot if you imply that Dave Hart is doing anything less than a stellar job.

we need to face the facts.. If its not gruden theres not a lot of hope in the rest of the list.
The rest are decent coaches. We need a great coach to be relevant in the sec east. Hopefully gruden comes

We'll see. If Fisher is announced we'll know. Checkers.

I never said I liked him but I think it's pretty obvious that this "beef" with him and the boosters is a little stretched.. There's something to it but he has the right power players and they are riding with him

I wouldn't consider myself to be an "OG", per se, but I can understand why they may have decided to stay away from this site for a day or two. Let's face it, Tennessee has a very passionate fan-base and when something upsets them, they will, and do, place blame on people to take out their frustrations and have no problem being quick to point a finger. They probably just don't want to deal with all of the stresses that would be included with things like that.

Now, I can't speak for them, but I believe some still believe what they're told. I know for myself, I still believe 100% what I've been told and what I've relayed to you all. Referring to my first post, coaching searches are dynamic; there is no outlined blue-print as to who announces what and when they announce it.

I wouldn't push to ask these guys questions. As upset as some of you might be, what they've done in sharing their information with you was overly generous, as it is absolute fact that some of what they had to say was true. They could have kept it to themselves and not offered it to any of you and you would be left in the dark. They deserve a thanks, and the benefit of the doubt until someone other than Jon Gruden is hired as the Head Coach.

Do you happen to know or are you the AD of a major SEC school looking for a coach. lol thanks for the hope.. Will not stop believing till i see someone else..tks

What credentials do they have? Strong? Weak a$$ conference with losses to terrible teams. Mora..ummm i got nothing hes a joke

Both turned their programs around quickly.

Strong has SEC experience, defensive mind, GREAT recruiter, players love him.

Mora NFL experience and his UCLA team looks mighty good.

But keep believing Gruden will come here, I won't stop you.

LWS response to who he think Big Jim wants:
I have no idea but if he wanted Jon Gruden as the coach at Tennessee, he would be the coach at Tenenssee. If Gruden's agent would come off some of the points AND Gruden is truly interested in coaching in college and at Tenenssee, I'm real sure Haslam would be on board that. That is still possible if they would alter demands. Personally, I think LaMonte AND Gruden had no interest in coaching here and were only playing the game they have played elsewhere to keep Gruden's name out there.

just my opinion, of course.

Been lurking since Gruden III. I don't understand why everyone got so down after the supposed statement from lamonte today. Wednesday after mike and mike most, including myself, where encouraged by The way Gruden handled the question about the contract runor. Lamontes' statement did nothing but make me beleive this is happening even more. He went to great lengths to shoot it down almost like he was trying to make people beleive something he knew wasn't true. Everyone knows when you catch someone in a lie they go in to great detail to try to make you beleive there side. If this was truly a fantasy he could have easily not commented at all or just simply said it wasn't true and moved on. But he went to great detail on what supposedly went down behind the scenes. I'm calling bs that was a fabricated statement by either the KNS or him to silence all the Gruden talk. JMO if I'm wrong I'm wrong but I'm not giving up hope.

LWS's comments on Haslam support Bcarter's notions posted earlier which is boosters were talking but not walking. He probablly doesn't care but thought it was worth mentioning.

As do Skeeters comments about Gruden but who's counting. I'm a flip flopping liar because I do not state a belief and stick to it during evidence coming in daily, sometimes hourly. Thanks for mentioning that. I thought the same thing.

Again , they are decent coaches in weak conferences. We need a great coach.. but cool story, bro

Liper, please spill what you can that may help soothe to troubled Grudenite soul. We're hurtin' tonight. :frown:

We are all hurtin man. If I had anything to spill I'd tell you. But hey -- if we got this close, there is always a chance we could restart.

A very respected poster on VQ and former Vol, Buck Fitzgerald.

His quote...

Gruden wanted the job. Gonna be some upset people when the details come out. And like Larry said, Hart is the winner. He has The Juice.
