My point exactly...IF I am Gruden, and I have ties here at UT, no way I let that comment rest.

No Way.

No one will care a bit if it gets works out and they know it. Gruden wants to concentrate on his MNF duties this weekend. The last thing he wants is a bunch of Knoxville reporters harassing him in Philly or wherever he will be. Lamonte did his job.

Same person told me Hart was against the Gruden hire from the beginning and was furious that contact had been made before Dooley was fired. Also, before thanksgiving, boosters went over Harts head to Cheek and got him fully on board 100%....the 18 million resulted from this.

Also, the week leading up to Alabama, three prominent boosters met with Gruden face to face and got a verbal agreement. A few days later six boosters agreed to finance Gruden's salary, the current staff's buyout. The only thing the University would be responsible for was Gruden's staff and a few of their buyouts from other schools. Boosters wanted Dooley canned following SC loss but Hart was still wanting to bring him back for a fourth season. After Troy and Hart still refusing to make a decision, two of the six boosters dropped out of the financial agreement.

Heard all of this from the same person. I have confirmed some of it with a few people that know more than me. Haven't wanted to drop such specific details but I don't think it really matters anymore.

I should probably go to bed now because either the scotch or my patience is causing my orange blood to start to boil in regard to this Hart guy.

I am hoping that this stuff will all come out for the good in the end, but right now this is bringing out the east tn red in me.

He might have something in his contract saying he can't coach , and get his payment. If so , it makes sense why he hasn't gone back to coach yet.

The only stipulations were that he could not coach will under contract, or the payments would stop. His contract was up in 2011, not 2012. Deferring some money, was merely for TB, not for Gruden...he no longer has any restrictions. He stayed at ESPN, because he was being paid 4.5 million a year, and was not ready to jump back into coaching. HE HAS NO COACHING RESTRICTIONS AT THIS POINT....that was just another load of garbage.

I dont know who reported the Bucs still owe Gruden money...but if its true...its deferred money, that has no implications at this point. His contract ended in 2011...it does not matter if he is owed money at this point or not...any deferred money, is still money in his pocket...this crap about him having to wait, because of a final payment...is just another FANTASY

Lots of coaches contracts have buyouts that have a "no compete" clause so to speak. Happens in college all the time. Not uncommon for a college to hire a fired coach as GA and let his former school pay his salary while he coaches at new school. I'm sure there is similar dealings in NFL.

Oh, and GTFO with your negativity. We have had enough of that today.

I hope the big $$$$ jerk a knot in Hart's tail ASAP!!!

He needs to learn some humility from what I understand!!!

He needs to learn that nothing should come before this program including the appearance of boosters making the biggest hire in school history.

How did we end up with Hart in the first place?

It all starts with Phillip spilling dirt on Bama, and Bama alumni conspiring to a long decade long plot of revenge....it started with convincing Hamilton to fire Fulmer mid season without a ready grown man to replace him, and then influencing him to go with a slimey no ethics coach, and then to start Hiring Sabans rejects....then came the manchurian atheletic director....

true story...

I can say that some of my information agrees with some of that. It was actually widely accepted that Dooley was done after the Miss St. game, as big money boosters let it be known that unless something big were to change, their contributions would lessen greatly.

If you go back to my very first post, I had mentioned that the "hardest" times were pre-thanksgiving when the major contributors, like you said, 'went over Hart's head'. That was a fustercluck.

Some say I'm insane, but I'm still confident that something will get done. Too many powerful people have put a ton of time and resources into this to let it 'end' like this, as the media has portrayed it. I haven't been told too much over the last 24 hours other than he's trying to figure/find some stuff out, but until I see someone not named Jon Gruden leashed to the podium to be introduced as the Head Coach of Tennessee, I'm going to hold firm in my belief.

So basically your confirmation of "some of it" consists of hearsay from a few people who know more than you along with what you've heard "from the same person."

This is the first I've heard of any boosters meeting face to face with Gruden, let alone obtaining a verbal agreement. I wish it were all true, but it is difficult to believe it all when it's based on hearsay. I don't doubt there is some truth in there.

Gruden told our people he was coming. It's not hearsay.

I believe he forfeits any remaining money if he takes a coaching job. He supposedly wants to stick it to the Bucs. TIFWIW. :hi:

Gruden gets his last payment from TB on 12/15. This is about the same time Hart is expected to name a new coach. These denials could be another smokescreen to throw people off.

Smart actually has been Hart's guy for a long time and I was told this again the end of October. If or when this changed I don't know.

I've been trying to find an article I read at the time we ended up with Dooley that dealt with the rumors of Smart looking at open HC spots. It stated that Saban told Smart to stay put and he could have the Tennessee HC job in three years.
The figure of $18M is an odd amount. That it's divisible by three is no coincidence.

I dont know how much more clear i can say this...Grudens contract ended in 2011....IF he is owed money, it is only because he agreed to defer some of it. They can not put stipulations on what he can, or cant do after his contract ends...if this was the case, he would have never agreed to defer any of it....there is no sticking it to TB anymore...his contract has been up for almost a full 12 months

Question for everyone......

Why did LaMonte talk to Woodberry today when there are other more widely known media types in Knoxville?

Woodberry responded to my tweets today that he had been texting, calling and emailing LaMonte for the past week and today LaMonte finally called him back...

I'm all about representing your client to the fullest, but did he really have to piss in our morning cheerios while doing it? I don't think so.

Seemed uncalled for and completely unprofessional.

On #3 - Hart's only excuse for super slow pacing would be that they needed time to plan the search and who to target. That excuse is not plausible because I know for a fact Athletic Directors are expected to have a contingency plan in their drawer of not only how to execute the next search, but probably the top 10 targets that would be pursued. In other words, they are expected to be ready to execute the next search at a moments notice. Hart's silence and appearance of slow movement are the biggest clue to me that very few if any know what's really going on.

This makes sence.....I'm in till the end
