My point exactly...IF I am Gruden, and I have ties here at UT, no way I let that comment rest.
No Way.

Same person told me Hart was against the Gruden hire from the beginning and was furious that contact had been made before Dooley was fired. Also, before thanksgiving, boosters went over Harts head to Cheek and got him fully on board 100%....the 18 million resulted from this.
Also, the week leading up to Alabama, three prominent boosters met with Gruden face to face and got a verbal agreement. A few days later six boosters agreed to finance Gruden's salary, the current staff's buyout. The only thing the University would be responsible for was Gruden's staff and a few of their buyouts from other schools. Boosters wanted Dooley canned following SC loss but Hart was still wanting to bring him back for a fourth season. After Troy and Hart still refusing to make a decision, two of the six boosters dropped out of the financial agreement.
Heard all of this from the same person. I have confirmed some of it with a few people that know more than me. Haven't wanted to drop such specific details but I don't think it really matters anymore.
He might have something in his contract saying he can't coach , and get his payment. If so , it makes sense why he hasn't gone back to coach yet.
I dont know who reported the Bucs still owe Gruden money...but if its true...its deferred money, that has no implications at this point. His contract ended in 2011...it does not matter if he is owed money at this point or not...any deferred money, is still money in his pocket...this crap about him having to wait, because of a final payment...is just another FANTASY
How did we end up with Hart in the first place?

So basically your confirmation of "some of it" consists of hearsay from a few people who know more than you along with what you've heard "from the same person."
This is the first I've heard of any boosters meeting face to face with Gruden, let alone obtaining a verbal agreement. I wish it were all true, but it is difficult to believe it all when it's based on hearsay. I don't doubt there is some truth in there.
I believe he forfeits any remaining money if he takes a coaching job. He supposedly wants to stick it to the Bucs. TIFWIW. :hi:
The figure of $18M is an odd amount. That it's divisible by three is no coincidence.Smart actually has been Hart's guy for a long time and I was told this again the end of October. If or when this changed I don't know.
I've been trying to find an article I read at the time we ended up with Dooley that dealt with the rumors of Smart looking at open HC spots. It stated that Saban told Smart to stay put and he could have the Tennessee HC job in three years.

No one will care a bit if it gets works out and they know it. Gruden wants to concentrate on his MNF duties this weekend. The last thing he wants is a bunch of Knoxville reporters harassing him in Philly or wherever he will be. Lamonte did his job.
On #3 - Hart's only excuse for super slow pacing would be that they needed time to plan the search and who to target. That excuse is not plausible because I know for a fact Athletic Directors are expected to have a contingency plan in their drawer of not only how to execute the next search, but probably the top 10 targets that would be pursued. In other words, they are expected to be ready to execute the next search at a moments notice. Hart's silence and appearance of slow movement are the biggest clue to me that very few if any know what's really going on.
I hope your right... We deserve it. we turnin into a hockey stateI can say that some of my information agrees with some of that. It was actually widely accepted that Dooley was done after the Miss St. game, as big money boosters let it be known that unless something big were to change, their contributions would lessen greatly.
If you go back to my very first post, I had mentioned that the "hardest" times were pre-thanksgiving when the major contributors, like you said, 'went over Hart's head'. That was a fustercluck.
Some say I'm insane, but I'm still confident that something will get done. Too many powerful people have put a ton of time and resources into this to let it 'end' like this, as the media has portrayed it. I haven't been told too much over the last 24 hours other than he's trying to figure/find some stuff out, but until I see someone not named Jon Gruden leashed to the podium to be introduced as the Head Coach of Tennessee, I'm going to hold firm in my belief.
