Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

So basically your confirmation of "some of it" consists of hearsay from a few people who know more than you along with what you've heard "from the same person."

This is the first I've heard of any boosters meeting face to face with Gruden, let alone obtaining a verbal agreement. I wish it were all true, but it is difficult to believe it all when it's based on hearsay. I don't doubt there is some truth in there.

The Times Free Press guy said it on the Chattanooga radio this afternoon. There is either a coup about to take place or all the party's involved are incredibly close on their actions and are just buying time.

Well depending on who you believe looks like Jimmy heard things he didn't like and pulled the plug.. I think this thread needs to get used to the idea that Dave Hart is a chess player

Man...you guys hear and read what you want. He isnt forfeiting anything. His contract ended in 2011. If he is still owed money, it is because he agreed to defer some of it...him deferring money, doesnt mean he is forfeiting it. Even in the event he deferred money, there can be no stipulations tacked on, past his contract. He is free...he could have taken a coaching job last year, and would not have lost any money....get it?

Hey it's almost Dec. 1. His last payment should be set to auto-deposit in a few min. Then he won't have to worry about losing money.

When Smart is hired, we can say that we turned down Megan Fox for Ugly Betty.

We turned down Jon Gruden??????????

Contract may have been up for 12 months, but they fired JG and he had a hefty buyout and this is what is being talked about "buyout payments"

I understand what is being talked about...but it is wrong. The only stipulations were that he could not take a coaching job while under contract, or he would lose some of his buyout money....if he deferred said buyout...that isnt to help him...it was to help TB...the only time he would have lost buyout money, was during his contract years...which ended last year. There is nothing true about having to wait until December 15th...there is nothing true about wanting to stick it to TB...he has been free to take a HC job since last year...without forfeiting any money.

Night of the Longknives, Part II?

LWS's comments on Haslam support Bcarter's notions posted earlier which is boosters were talking but not walking. He probablly doesn't care but thought it was worth mentioning.

Charles Davis wearing an orange tie. He knows.

He was on the DP show this morning - said he knows Gruden very well from when they roomed together when they coached together at Pacific and also when Gruden coached him as a GA and Charles was a senior at UT.

Said that he never thought there was a chance that Gruden would take the UT job.... But that Charles doesn't ask him those kinds of questions during the season.

How are you OV? I hope all is well.....

My only fear is that Hart's failed attempt to give JG's crew the cold shoulder may have jacked it all up....

It reminds me a lot of CDD's attitude toward former players...:hi:

I want UT football to be back in the National spotlight, I still believe that it will happen. And won't believe anything else until I see it with my own two eyes.

He did have an attitude.

Basilio has said for days that not all the Boosters $$ were completely on board with Gruden, but he indicated that those with reservations would not stand in the way of a deal.
