Buddy Green

Shoot me in the face......

Buddy Green!...... Damn..... unbelievable..... Buddy Green.... You have to laugh.

Has anyone considered that Dooley is interviewing different DC's before he offers one of them the job? I haven't heard anyone throw that out there.:hi:

CoachSearch.com is saying Buddy Greene, DC at Navy, is being interviewed and a deal could be worked out in the next 48 hours.

I looked up info on him, and nothing says he is a good dc imo. He improved NC STATE PPG from 28 pts to 20pts. Improved yes, still not good. The last time he was in the SEC was with Auburn in 1980, totally different SEC now. If he was a good DC he would have a better job currently, but he never wowed anybody. I would rather take my chances with an uproven DC in Sal Sunseri imo.:ermm:

Y'all don't know anything.

First of all, everyone on here has been misting their panties for the past week thinking Randy Shannon was coming to UT-well he aint.

Second, for those of you that think Navy sucks, then you need to compare apples to apples. Navy and Air Force and Army RECRUIT players to the Service Academies. They have to convince kids that they should come to play for them with no hope of going into the NFL then serving a term as a commissioned officer in their respective service. Add to that the entrance requirements that each has to achieve and the Service Academies don't RECRUIT or GET the same athletes that go to large conference schools or even the athletes that go to FCS schools.

Navy has fielded and will continue to field undersized teams that are out matched in terms of athleticism when compared with the team on the opposite side of the field.

The defenses that Buddy Green puts on the field are well prepared, disciplined, never quit, and always overachieve. For Navy to have 3 wins in 5 years versus Notre Dame should never, never happen in the modern era of college football.

Navy is a tough place to coach and RECRUIT to because most of the time, when they step on the field the deck is stacked against them. If there is anyone in the country that can flat coach when when the odds are against us it is Buddy Green. He's a journeyman coach that has been other places besides Navy.

I for one welcome his hire as DC!!

We play in the toughest conference in the country and we want to hire Navy's DC? Please take a look at their schedule? If you think Spangler would be bad and he would, this Navy guy will get his head handed to him. And yes if Dooley hires this guy and I am Lance I tell Dooley to shove it and walk.

You do realize that Navy doesn't recruit like the rest of the schools they have to play? He needs to do as much as possible with what he gets handed to him. We need grit added to our D, and they need to be able to go the whole game. Lets do more research on the guy, before he's discounted.

Everyone wants RS based on him being at MIA where blue chip players flow like hookers, so he is no guarantee either.

Bill Parcells had an unsuccessfull stint as the HC - Would anyone complain about him as DC - If he could get the TN players to play as hard as the Naval Academy Players this would be a great hire.....

Totally 100% agree. Glad to know that not everyone on here is a nuckle dragger.

People need to do a little research instead of dismissing people based on where they have coached.

I think Coach Green will make an excellent addition to the UT staff.

There is always someone that writes a better written statement than I while I'm thinking I'm writing a pulitzer prize winner. Well said my friend :good!:

I'm actually feeling pretty good about this one. He coached at UTC in the late 90s, so he wouldn't be hesitant to come here with his wife. Those are good things I like to see.

Has been Navy's DC for 10 yrs, so he has the stability that I want to see. May not care about becoming an HC, so CDD can be comfortable with that. He has been around enough too, which I think would be helpful for CDD to mature for all of those who think he is over his head. He may be a good recruiter or not, but CDD is great at it so he can make up for it. Hope CLT stays around at least for this yr if he feels he needs out for being over looked.

Great, thanks alot, that's another person Dooley has to interview for the DC position now, Bill Parcells.... come on down!

Of course they will...he's to fat....:p

Add him and McCaffery (s?) who had some time as a military S&C guy, and we could have some beast on the D. We always want just the guys that are big and heavy. Maybe if we have a bad yr in recruiting and miss out on a guy or 2 one season it will be great to have a coach that is use to getting the most out of the least.

I wasn't this intrigued with the RS rumors.

From what I hear, CLT was excited to hear BG's name mentioned in DC discussion.

BG will be announced as UT's DC on or before Friday.
