Arnett to transfer?

Good call by Dooley. His family went out of their way to showcase DA at UT camps. He knew the distance and could have stuck with his first announcement, but chose TN in a melodramatic show. Grow up, Dooley is doing you a favor.

First off, impressed the OP spelled decisions right. Secondly, I wonder how it feels to start a thread and basically get laughed off. Do they log back on and think "these guys are are all idiots!"? Haha I hope so

There is no Doubt that Tennessee should release Arnett unconditionally to any school that is not on our schedule. Dooley's decision is idiotic! Mistreating players with sick fathers will come back and bit you!!!
Not releasing him to Michigan or Michigan State is foolish. It causes me to like Dooley less. If I were not a Vol Fan, I would hope that he does not win much next year and we would fire him. But I am a Vol fan so I can not wish bad on my team.

Can't speak to Mich. but seems like M. State has been recruiting him pretty hard. It smells like something other than totally a family situation. I like Dooley's take on it. There are some other good options for him just don't ever want schools recruiting away our top players and then finding a medical issue to blame or to make it work. Mount Pleasant is the closest D-1 school so if there truly is a serious medical issue why not trf to the closest school.

I am withholding judgement until Arnette reveals the nature of his dads illness. No disrespect -- but if it is high blood pressure or enlarged prostate probably not going to garner a lot of sympathy from me. It is unfortunate but this rule has morphed into a loophole for everyone wanting to transfer. There are some with truly legitimate needs to transfer to get closer to home and some who are just playing the system.

neither douglas or brown had ailing fathers.

i feel like i've said it 1000 times. we recruit against all schools. it may not happen often. but if you look at last year there were 4 4* recruits that were interested in Central Michigan. Do we not go after 4* recruits? If we do then how are we not recruiting against Central Michigan?

The vast majority of NFL players come from BCS schools. Odds are in favor if he goes to one of those.

I never said that either had ailing fathers, I said it was obvious that CDD thinks there ismore to it than that, and deductive reasoning leads me to believe that part of the equation for his request to transfer is due to, at least in part, other factors that could include being home sick, CCB leaving, or just realizing that Tennessee may not be the place for him. Very similar to both AD and BB.

As far as recruiting, I agree we recruit against all schools, but there are far more instances where we are in direct competition for a recruit with Michigan and Michigan state than central Michigan. Of the 4 recruits you mentioned, how many had both UT and central michigan in their top 3? On this point I can be swayed.

It is true that most NFL players are from BCS schools, but I only said it wasn't necessarily required. For instance, DeMarcus Ware is my favorite defensive player, and probably the best linebacker in the league. From Troy. If you have talent, the NFL will find you.

They are so hypocritical. They don't give a s*** about the kid's dad. UM and MSU fans just want him to come play for them.
Exactly. They're also citing his not releasing Bryce and Aaron Douglas as reasons to why Dooley's a POS. State fans are trashy.

I dont give a rats ass about what the Michigan State fans think. He ridiculed them in his first presser and now they still want him? Morons.

i'm glad my boss can't tell me i can't quit my job and go anywhere i want.

It all depends on the job. I have been in contract flooring all my life. On some jobs, if I committed to the terms and conditions of the contract, I could walk off, but I had to pay out the a$$ to walk off. This is that kind of situation.

This. And there are plenty of jobs with non compete clauses.

Kermit using arm dope is priceless. Any comparisons to MSU green are a mere coincidence.

Just release him let him go, frees up a scholarship and the bad pub. Dooley is not being reasonable if he won't release him to where ever he wants to go.

The kid is obviously a drama queen the recruitment of him was dramatic also if I remember correctly.

This is not how you handle people with maturity issues.

K-State fans acted the same way with Brown and now they wouldn't care if he got hit by a train. Funny how that works out.
