Arnett to transfer?

what other reasons would there be that would make it ok to release to central michigan but not michigan or michigan state.

.

Central Michigan is in his hometown. Mich and MichSt are each over an hours drive away. If he is leaving to be near his family, Central Michigan makes by far the most sense. If he's leaving because his coach left and he "doesn't like his role", then he shouldn't be allowed to just renege on his commitment and go where he wants. Central makes the most sense under either scenario.

i'm glad my boss can't tell me i can't quit my job and go anywhere i want.

Many businesses have a noncompete. I don't care where the kid goes and I bet DD doesn't either, but it's a business decision to put limits on the release.
Believe me, I would have felt differently a few years ago, but they have to investigate and make the best decision without compromising the way they handle departures.

I agree with UT here, but this will be a PR disaster. Arnett and his family are b****es, but I think CDD needs to just let him go. No matter what the true story is, the media is going to latch on to the "dying father" part of it.

Guess you've never signed an employment contract. Been out in the working world long?

I've been working 27 years and never signed an employment contract. I can work wherever I want.

But, my wife has signed 2-3 over the years...non-compete type contracts...for a cash up-front bonus

Because obviously, if he were honest, they would have released him already. And Dooley is a saint

I don't like Dooley, but I'll back him here. Every kid that gets home sick shouldn't be granted a full release. Just dumb. He's able to play football close to his father. What else does he want? To go further from his father to play for Michigan State? hmmmmmmm

you can't let him go to wherever he wants, what kind of message does that send? ok so DR is pissed so he wants out bc his dad is sick? He just wants to transfer to GA, um no.

Don't forget Notre Dame. He is considering them also. That's only about 4 or 5 hours away.

emain is dead wrong on this one. you don't let him run the program. It's Dooley's football team, not DA. So sorry buddy but you decided to bail.

Well said. That's not how it works now and not how it will work later in life.

yes, central michigan is in his hometown. however ann arbor and east lansing are well within commute distance. I drove an 1 1/2 hrs to school 4 days a week for 2 years. it's quite possible. I'm not saying he would live at home and commute (the college i went to the athletes had to live on campus). But he would easily be able get home quickly, while still attending and playing for a BCS school.

dooley is that you?

Guys, again................scholarships are only one year commitments between a school and a player.

He didn't "renege" on his commitment. He played out the year as he signed to do.
