The Weightlifters Thread

My diet is good, I use good supps, and I get 8 hours of sleep. I could not handle 60 sets of chest a week.

Are you telling me you would recommend nearly 30 sets per muscle group for the average guy if he had those three things? I would not.

That's the minimum that you want for ideal gains. It sucks, cause who has time for 10 hours of sleep?

8 hrs of sleep is an old wives tale. Plenty of sleep studies indicate its quality over quantity and the biggest factor is a regular and consistent pattern.

Studies about muscle growth or just general wellness?

Not at all. But it floats bakers boat i guess so I'll let it be.

I know that the training Baker is doing calls for more sets, but how many sets do yall normally do per body part.... I switch up my routines alot but I guess I average about 10 to 12 sets per body part

No difference.

All I'm finding are studies that say 8 hours isn't optimal for life expectancy (6-7 hours represents those with the longest lifespan). I am finding nothing relating to bodybuilding. Do you have a link?

No difference. There is no such thing as "bodybuilding sleep".

12-15 sets for major muscles, 6-9 for smaller.

But you probably do 15 for chest and then 9 for Tri's or something like that in the same session, right? And then you do that x 2 a week. That would put you at 30 on chest for the week which is usually what I end up doing (just currently I am trying to shock the %%%% out of myself). I just prefer doing 1 muscle per session and doing it in detail. Every angle.

I received USP Labs new product today, Yok3d. An NO2 stimulater. I lift tomorrow, I'll try it out.

No, I typically do 12/6 and just once a week.

You should probably just quit while you're behind. If you are really too dense to put this line of reasoning together, here it is:

6-7 hours according to studies is what is best for the lifespan of the average person. This in no way applies to what is best for somebody trying to maximize muscle recovery. :salute:

Nice. That's pretty cool. I wish I could make gains that way. I am probably overtraining right now, but I am trying everything. I plateau'd in size a long time ago and I just get better shape and detail with no real gains. I think it mostly boils down to genetics. I don't feel any of the effects of overtraining, so I just keep doing it.

Muscle grows with rest. I don't think it's crazy to think that the more sleep, the better gains. Everything I've read about gaining mass has preached proper rest.

I know mania was doing Norton's hypertrophy workout for a while. I never asked if it was working.

BTW, this guy is a beast and natural. Jim Cordova is the man, too. Much respect to them if they really did do it naturally.

Proper rest is accurate. More does not mean proper.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Baker with a "line of reasoning"! Ha! Ha! Ha!

You're bodybuilding idols, many of them even, wake up every three hours to eat a meal. You need to call those guys and inform them that they're to dense to understand your "line of reasoning". Or do you have a sleep "formula" too?
