Trooper and former players recruiting against vols?

Having no knowledge is a double edged sword. Did Hamilton have knowledge of Pearl's picture fiasco? Who had knowledge of a few girls driving around stalking recruits? In some instances daddy does a no-no and 'knowledge' is overlooked while in others it is not.

My point is this happens under Dooley's watch. Up to this point we could say things were clean since he came to town and all rule violations were Kiffin's.

Who in their right mind is going to place any wrongdoing at DD's feet in this case? How could he be expected to know, and then control the contact between an assistant coach for another team, and a disgruntled player who he no longer coaches? That's ridiculous.

This doesn't make sense to me...Maybe Jones thinks coming to TN is the reason he isn't going to make it in the NFL?

I mean I just don't see what he has to gain in this by pushing people to Auburn unless Trooper is throwing him cash to bad mouth TN.

Jones is probably really bitter about UT. 3 coaches during his tenure. that has to make somebody bitter. If we had that type of stuff happening at our job, we would have some resentment too.

that being said, Jones is gone and we've got some good recruits and good coaches so i think we'll get some stability. That is until dooley goes go GA after Richt is fired next year.

It must be the offseason. If a former player says the word alabama, all of the sudden, panic ensues. Show me concrete evidence, or you've got nothing. Right now, you all sound like Chicken Little screaming, "The sky is falling!"

Because he is a member of the Jedi Order and should have forseen this, duh!

its not a recruiting violation against tennessee because a former player is recruiting against them. Are you guys serious with this stuff?

The only way that Dooley could have forseen any of this would have been for him to be a Jedi. And I'm talking Jedi Master-not just some Padowan learner. Maybe he is a Jedi, and the Darkside was clouding his vision. Who the eff knows.

I'm not saying Dooley is personally at fault or screwed up. Read my last post. It's under his watch. Again, prior to this 'supposed event' every issue the NCAA had with us could be laid at the feet of Kiffin. One of our defenses could be the guy is gone. Now with this 'event' and 'violation' if true would be under Dooley's watch.

We do know that a head coach doesn't have to be in the know during a violation right? A player can easily screw his school over intentionally or accidentally but the coach and school takes the blame. And in this case if GJ did this and it is a violation, then it does not look good for the current staff - whether they had direct control over the situation or not.

This is Volnation, now you know that is NOT what we do here.

True, but to write former players off as if they are dead to you without even the slightest bit of evidence outside of a few message board posters is a little harsh, even for VolNation IMO.

If a former UT player contacts a recruit, yes it is. Doesnt matter if he is recruiting for or against. The only thing here is that GJ is technically not a "former" player and still enrolled at UT.

When stomping people's heads in at bars takes place who gets the blame? When a gas station hold up takes place, who gets the blame? If a kid calls up an agent and gets paid, who gets the blame? The HC steers the ship and he and the school gets the blame. Do you think the head coach goes out holding players' hands all the time?

You're just not following here. IF this happened and IF it is a rule violation, as was stated, and the player's school is who gets the violation, this goes to the school currently under Dooley's watch. It all comes down to what happened and if a rule violation. Haven't you followed the news with all of the issues of players and their actions with the school getting the blame for it?

If true, G and G will regret----later when they want to still be in the Vol family.

Dooley will never coach at UGA---as long as Vince is alive; anyhow. I got that from his Uncle. Dr.-----------

Part of me thinks you are being sarcastic while the other part prays that you are being sarcastic.

I'm being sarcastic, however, i did knock on wood as i typed it. I think dooley would go to LSU before he would GA. he said he has more ties with LSU than Ga.

It seems like this is a loophole that would be looked past and/or closed up if the NCAA had any sense at all. So a disgruntled former player can call all the recruits he wants just to get his old school into trouble?

ncaa has no juristiction concerning fomer players. if they tried to interview one, the player could tell the ncaa to piss off and there is nothing they could do from a legal standpoint.

he's still on athletic scholarship at UT

What you're missing is the fact that you can't view this like any other sort of violations we've seen in the past. If true this would be completely unprecedented. Find me one other instance where a college player has actively recruited against his school. Like someone else said, if anything, the NCAA will use this as an opportunity to close a loophole they could never have imagined existing.

This is my point. Trooper knows he has someone not tied to Auburn at all and can get past all of the rules on deadlines, calling periods, visits, etc. And as I said, (disclaimer: I am not alleging this happened) a loophole where handouts could take place as well. Cam showed the world how the system can be exploited. In "this player" Taylor has someone with no Auburn ties who if caught could deny or even get his own university in trouble. Auburn gets the player using underhanded means and gets off yet again.

Trooper Taylor is to football what John Calipari is to basketball....human pieces of crap.

Violation wouldnt fall on the former player but the University and the recruit.

Gabe Wright was NEVER going to go to U.T. He wanted to go to U.T. BUT his mom and girlfriend wanted him to go to Auburn. The pressure from his mom and girlfriend were going to win out over his own desires. A month ago, an article was written that said
" Gabe Wright wants to go to U.T. but his mom & girlfriend are pushing him to go to a different school" I would assume that that meant Auburn, wouldn't you!!
Whomever spoke to him about U.T. didn't sway him opinion. His mind was already made up!!!
It would be like me being shot and then you kick me in the stomach. The kick in the stomach didn't cause my death. The gun shot did. What these players said to Wright
didn't cause him to NOT come to U.T.
