Gerald Jones is a representative of Tennessee in this instance.
Are you really surprised the NCAA doesn't have provisions for this sort of situation? I can't imagine it has been an issue very often in the past, if ever.
If this is true, it's pretty disappointing, but I can't say I'm all that surprised. Wasn't GJ quoted last year with some "Woe is me, what did I ever do to deserve all this?" sort of comments? I can certainly see why he might have some resentment and hard feelings towards UT, but actively recruiting against your school is still pretty low. Again though, this is all speculation right now, correct?
Right, but he wasn't working in UT's "interests". You're not saying you think UT could get in trouble for this are you? There has to be some "substance vs form" lattitude here. You can't punish a school because a former player called a recruit and spoke against them.
If I remember correctly, GJ said that he wished he could start his career over with the current crop of UT recruits because of Bray.
Honestly, if GJ thinks that Hamilton is about to get canned, the UT program is about to get sanctions, and Auburn is sitting pretty with a coach he admires... why wouldn't he suggest someone look there?
I wouldn't assume someone is badmouthing UT just because they don't think it's the best option for someone with options at the moment, but I wouldn't blame GJ for having some negative feelings about how his four years on the hill went either.
That said, he got to play quarterback in the SEC championship game... so, maybe he should buck up a bit.

Someone posted this on VQ. Looks like it would be a violation agains UT.
