2026 Vols Transfer Portal Thread

Miles is out even with 5 year... McGlockton and Okereke are the only other 2 left. It's odd because I thought with how that roster is built they were expecting the 5 year to pass and move forward with returning everyone they could.

Tanner, Okereke, McGlockton, Bing are it from that roster and 2 of them won't have eligibility without the 5th year passing. I'm...baffled Tanner wants to return to that team.

My guess is that it's the draft or the Vols, and he's just taking all the time he has to make the decision. I'd be stunned if his family seriously believes it's good for him career-wise to return to a mediocre Vandy team just out of loyalty.

You know, it’s funny: I’ve thought about all of thes similarities between the Giants hiring Tony and Golden State pursuing Todd Golden. But I completely missed that Golden State might hire someone named “Golden.”
Nominative Determinism. Like Arsene Wenger being the Arsenal manager for 20 years.

April 24th is the deadline for declaring for the draft...

If Rueben Chinyelu returns, then it's lights out. Tennessee might need Tanner, Harris and Ament to compete with that.
They will kill us on the boards as it stands right now and they did last time we played them back in January. Chinyelu had around 14-16 boards and was a monster down low and Condon had like 8-10 I think too.

Yeah, Juke is in the portal & has already declared for the NBA draft.

So if he wanted to stay in college he basically has to withdraw by May 27th, picking his new school doesn't have to happen before then...he could withdraw and wait all summer before picking his new school. Just have to be enrolled before Fall term deadline.

another pick up for vandy, looks like a few solid pieces for vandy might keep tanner put now

Yep. We’ll see how the pieces end up fitting, but Vandy has pulled a pretty nice portal class together. They’ll be very good again next year, probably contending for a Top 4 seed.

I was watching his highlights last night, thinking the same thing. You get a taller player who averaged more assists and had a better three-point percentage.
Also, quite a few more turnovers and a lot fewer steals. Just comparing stats, I would say Tanner is the better pickup, but there doesn't appear to be a huge difference. Either would be huge for Tennessee.

Has he been spot on because he knows and has a real pulse on things, or has he been spot on because he regurgitates things he sees elsewhere (like here, perhaps)? He is his own boss and isn't really accountable to anyone to be accurate or honest about his info or its source. I have always been in the camp that he has some level of program sources, but I also am aware of stuff he has lifted verbatim from this very site. So I take everything he says with a grain of salt and try to parcel out what I believe to be true and what I choose to be skeptical of.

Not sure what to make of your last statement. Not sure what point its attempting to make as it relates to Basilio.
Here??? ROTFL. That’s rich!

Any thoughts about Gavin Askew? True PG who could come in and make us move...

Assuming you mean Devin Askew from Villanova? Dude has played 6 seasons already...seems like a terrible option as you'd need some sort of NCAA ruling to give him anymore eligibility

Not to mention KD couldn't bench 135 when he went to the combine and he turned out just fine.
Not to mention KD avg 25 pts/11 RB at his one and done year at Texas and won consensus national player of the year and drafted 2nd and over 20 years has averaged about 26 points a game every year since rookie year and numerous NBA all star appearances on his way to NBA Hall of Fame. Sorry but Ament is not even close to KD level yet this early so bad comparison

I am hoping he is at least as good as Kevin Duckworth.

I’m not a sports agent psychologist. I’m some knucklehead with an ex-roommate who is a top professional services provider (his words) to the collective and various coaches. No one knows what’s inside the head of these kids or what the conversations are. The boiled down version we hear is that Tanner, mom and agents think he can accel here. The kid has connections to his current team and loyalty to them, coach and school. His dad is passionate that he should stay because Vandy went out on a limb for him, and because of the academic reputation. The openness for dad to back down has progressed. His agents want him at UT. Will it be enough, will it be in time? No one knows. We’ll know today. I do NOT get the feeling that Tanner, agents or anyone are “playing” us. It’s a hard decision. He’s torn.
Professional services provider? Sounds like code for pimp.
