This is by no means an exhaustive list. It’s also not meant to imply that the Iranians don’t bear blame. Also for what it’s worth, there are Jewish enclaves in Iran that have been around since before Islam. Maybe before Jesus. Persians don’t by default hate Jews. The majority of them despise the modern day incarnation of the Nation of Israel.

Trump et al thought the wow factor of our military force would have the Iranians begging for a deal. Wise or not, there was clearly a lot of miscalculation on our end about how this would go.

We dont need to be conducting airstrikes on Iran or anyone else right now. I love Israel and support defending them at all times from attacks, but if Israel wants there to be airstrikes on Iran...they need to fly those sorties themselves. We can provide intelligence if needed, and sell them munitions IMO...but they need to do this themselves if they want it done. We cannot afford another war, and Americans dont want another war. That is one thing that nearly all Trump supporters liked. The fact that he is the only president in my lifetime to not go to war or attack any new countries.

We should not have started this. We should not be fighting this. We’ve only made it worse. If they did, there would have been a mobilized, allied initiative of literally anyone but the primary belligerent (Israel) making meaningful effort to secure and re-open the strait. It's as simple as that. We're likely going to pull out of this having accomplished nothing aside from destroying an ornamental menagerie of defenses that will ultimately mean nothing in the matter of a few years.
