Defense will be OK…

It actually is. If you think coaches that's been coaching 10 years forgot how to coach over the summer, you're stupid. We lost 2 really good safeties that were really good in run support. We dont have that this year.
The massive running lanes through our defense and the defenders chasing Pavia like Keystone cops suggest that there are at least a few areas for improvement in our scheme.

Furthermore your 10 years excuse is idiotic. Tenure is never an indication of great success, not really in any profession. Many leaders/CEOs have been in their game for 20-40 years and still manage to run companies into the ground. You have to evolve/change or be left behind in nearly any profession.

Guess what- butch, Dooley, Pruitt had all been in the coaching game at some level for likely 10-20 years. How great were they? So while it may not be indicative of “forgetting how to coach”, it may simply mean they never were what we thought they were, or they can’t grow/change at a pace to keep up with their current placement.

Nah gotta throw never turn and find the ball Willie in there also.
Just piss poor fundamentals. I love Colton Hood. He’s gonna be a day 2 selection. If you’re not in phase with the WR, you cannot look for the 🏈 now once you catch up…sure turn your head and find the 🏈

Had he kept his head down and played through the receivers hands, who knows what happens. Alignment, assignment, key, technique.

Yet we don’t align properly, which means we miss our assignments 🤦🏿‍♂️ oh and tackling…my goodness how many missed tackles because we don’t WRAP UP.

Fix the defense and we are fine. We are one year removed from the 2nd best defense in the SEC.
That D was very misleading last year.. Hear me out. The 2 best Offense's we played put up 73 points on us, GA and Ohio St. Both beat our ass like a drum. Ala's offense was ass, as was Fla's,Arky's,KY's,Miss St,All 4 non conference games were a joke and even Pavia was playing on 1 leg and struggled the last half of the season. Last year's was definitely better than this year's, but that's not saying much.

Yeah and the excuse is, “we lost our 2 starting corners”. Is that really the difference between the #6th and #100th defense in the nation? LOL, if you believe that, I’ve got some ocean front property to sell you in Kansas.
Exactly! And honestly,Hood played better than Gibson. Our issues were much worse than just missing McCoy.

Awfully broad statement. Who are the idiots, precisely?

Most people here are saying fix the defense and clean house on that side of the ball. So…who are the idiots again?
I assume OP referring to the “fire Heup club.”

Also, The latest rant was about Heup chewing gum during press conference. Then some chimed in about his weight and his unshaven look.

Cleaning house is stupid when you are one year removed from the 2nd best defense. The thing that changed most is the players leaving. We missed run support at the safety spot Jakobe Thomas and Will Brooks did more than we thought. Yall first knee jerk reaction is to fire everyone, and only a moran would run a business or team that way.
And that's on coaches for not retaining talent

Small minority focusing on stupid stuff like that. Chewing gum during a presser is annoying, but whatever. Weight and unshaven appearance, another nothing burger when taken on their own.

If any of those tie directly to some of the bigger issues, then so be it. But I’m more concerned with year 5 seeing a regression, players and coaches seemingly not caring, completely being unprepared, lack of discipline and fundamentals, clock mismanagement, lack of or terrible halftime adjustments, and a defense that looks worse with each passing game for the majority of 5 years.

He wants to look like grizzly Adam’s, Roseanne Barr, and chew a full bag of Big League Chew? Cool. Just win. (Or show improvement and some fight in all phases of the game).

The people wanting to blow the program up and get rid of Heupel are idiots. The people that want a new DC are at least justified in the opinion. Banks did not call a good game last night. We’ve got a chance to be good next year though. I hope we get the NIL backing we need
What exactly do you base “we’ve got a chance to be good next year” on???

If we retain Banks I see 5 losses next year

Offense has been non existent in four out of the last eight quarters the last two games. It's not just the defense that's been an issue the last three games.

Would have McCoy and Gibson being healthy have caused us to be top 10 nationally? No. But we all expected a drop off from last year. But look at the games we lost. Can you seriously say that we lose to OU, Bama and UGA with those guys healthy? Especially with how Hood has developed?

We wouldn’t be a top 10 unit with Gibson and McCoy healthy all year but my God we wouldn’t probably be a top 30 unit.

Maybe, maybe not. That’s speculation. The fact is this year the Defense is ranked around 100th regardless of who isn’t on the field and they just allowed Vandy nearly 600 yards. Pavia had 165 yards rushing himself so I’d say we have far more problems than corners or safeties. That’s Tim Banks defense and he failed his players and Vol fans.

I just wonder how much NIL was wasted this year on either guys missing the entire year or ones that got paid and didn’t earn their keep. It happens at every school but I would be curious what our players make.
