Defense will be OK…

“Dumb”. Comment being made by a clown trying to tell me we don’t want to coach/develop people up to a higher level. Really should’ve tried to fire your brain up (if possible) before typing that one.

It’s exactly our coaches jobs by the way. If that was the case we wouldn’t need coaches at this level. A bunch of 4-5 stars should just be able to come in, line up, and perform as expected, right? Imagine you trying to make that point preceded by the word “dumb”.

The staff is played millions yearly to do this job. Bring people in, coach them, develop them above expectations and status quo. Bet you really felt like you were doing something typing that one out. So we usually recruit a 12-15 class- by your logic we should never perform better than 12-15, right? Not our job to make them better?

Let me help you. What you want out of staff is exactly what Vandy is doing right now. Overachieving and development.
For 1 year. Teams dont play above their ranking every year because players cycle out every year. It's like yall dont understand roster turnover. In sports, there are always down years. Owners/GMs make moves because fans, but fans dont know what is going on, they barely understand their own job. 20% of Americans are illiterate. 50% read at a 6th grade level. Those are the loudest ones.

Why did that defense do great? Elite talent. Kind of like when butch looked great but he really wasn’t due to kamara, etc. We were packed with NFL level talent on that 2nd best defense. We aren’t going to be that lucky most years. The defensive staff have shown they’re not capable without elite talent.

Our defense has sucked 4 out of 5 years under this admin. If you excelled at your job 20% of the time and sucked the rest how would you be viewed as an employee?

I’ve seen many employees like that. I fire them. The university should to.
Maybe you should resign if you can’t get better effort. That train travels both ways.

As Indiana and even Vandy has shown, college football isn't a build it over time product anymore. With mercenary players and coaches becoming the norm now, seems like you either do it or you don't within a couple of years. There is no foundation building anymore. You build the foundation as you go, because you can't count on any player being there more than a year. It appears to me that the path to winning won't be through hs recruiting as it traditionally has been. To win now, you have to master the portal. Not just cherry picking, corralling most of you roster through the portal each year.

Fix the defense and we are fine. We are one year removed from the 2nd best defense in the SEC.
Yeah. Just fix it..

Easy!

So why didn't he do that ALL OFF-SEASON?
He didn't think he needed to. That's the BAD part. He honestly didn't think he needed to bring in new veterans through the TP.

Damn the on field performance..He hamstrung the defense BEFORE THE FIRST GAME

I see you’ve never led anyone. Good try though. You’re half right. Some you can make better. Some you can’t, especially when dealing with the younger generations that we are now employing. Things are much, much different then say even 10ish years ago.

It’s the 80/20 rule and it always holds true in my experience. 20% of the people pull the heavy weight while 80% ride coat tails. 20% of people create all the problems while the other 80 strive to solve them.

It’s almost like roster turnover is accompanied by a new recruiting class every year. And in case you haven’t been keeping up in the world of NIL rosters can now go from awful to serviceable in the matter of a few million and a few signatures. And you’re right, you’re very loud yelling at opinions you don’t like.

I think our defense is bad. I think that will hold up via argument by example. I also agree with the sentiment that against better teams last year our defense looked poor. JMO.

However, our offense is now suspect as well. We only scored 13 points in the second half against a bad Kentucky team. We scored 3 in the second half against Vandy and zero second half points against UF. I don’t think all of that was “taking the air” out of the ball, and even if that’s the case . . . That’s on CJH - not Banks.

Cleaning house is stupid when you are one year removed from the 2nd best defense. The thing that changed most is the players leaving. We missed run support at the safety spot Jakobe Thomas and Will Brooks did more than we thought. Yall first knee jerk reaction is to fire everyone, and only a moran would run a business or team that way.
And who recruited and developed the players that replaced those that left? Two sides to that coin friend.

For the record: This is entertainment. We're discussing Entertainers and Entertainment Management (a D1 football coach is a hybrid of the two).

In this regard, when this is what NCAA football looks like, being an"idiot" for some laughs is pretty fun.

Ummm, you know player develop at different rates. No one anticipated JT leaving, because he was going to start. Roster management in NIL is tricky that no one has mastered. You think the coaches didnt try.

Yeah and the excuse is, “we lost our 2 starting corners”. Is that really the difference between the #6th and #100th defense in the nation? LOL, if you believe that, I’ve got some ocean front property to sell you in Kansas.
So you don’t think loosing 3 of the top defensive backs hurts defensive play? I agree that Banks has some problems but he did have one of the best defenses in the Nation 2 years ago. Superior talent can win when they are well coached and have experience. Banks is the same coach he was 2 years ago but he lost talent to injuries and a definite player. I will.not be surprised if he is let go, but if he is, it doesn’t automatically solve the current problem unless we find experienced better players in the portal.
