It may not be quantum, but basketball is literally physics in action. I can see your point but I can also see CKCs. There are 2 methods and either can lead to success or failure.
Option 1: You can be world-class at one scheme. You recruit to the scheme and you become so good at it that no one can do anything about it. Most fail and get fired.
Option 2: You can be a complex chameleon, "being multiple", if you will. You change your strategy based on the opponent, but you run the risk of being a master of nothing. Most fail and get fired.
CKC definitely leans strongly toward Option 1, but I do believe she is looking at what is and isn't working and will tweek things slightly as the season progresses.
Honestly, I think that is a false choice.
Look at Uconn and South Carolina. They can play a fast paced game or slow it down in the half court They can beat with 3 point shooting or by running plays for paint points. In Dawn;s case, she added the 3 point game and her teams look much different from the A'ja Wilson era. If a team is loading up in the paint, it is not being a chameleon to take open 3s, it is being able to exploit what the defense gives you. Sometimes cliches harbor a real truth.
If the scheme is really good, like say Phil Jackson;'s triangle offense, sure. if your system is chasing around in a completely disorganized fashion, I am not so sure.
