Game Thread: Lady Vols v NC State, Away, Wed., 4PM, ESPN2, Tues Nov 4th

For people that think the officiating should be called fairly , you can come down from the clouds it will never happen... Officiating wasn't the only reason we lost the game today but if that's what makes you feel good go ahead and play the officiating card..

Yeah that’s just part of being Tennessee. We almost never get the whistle. Never have, never will so just accept it and move on.

I think they shouldn’t be ranked but realistically I think they’ll drop to about 15 and that’s fair.

Waaayyyy to much freelance open gym type of offense we won’t ever beat a team with a pulse playing that way that was one of the concerns coming into the season can we find a functioning half court offense running SETS when I heard we got beat badly in the UNC scrimmage once they went to a half court game u see why….secondly half court defense was atrocious it was also good at times going to have to fix it….ZEE I gave her grace in the exhibition but this was just down right bad all they way around I don’t want to use the word regressed because she started slow last year as well….wouldn’t have mattered if ruby was back or not we have to fix the things that haunted us last year or it’s gone be could’ve should’ve would’ve all over again on a positive note tho this team if they can get they ish together is gone be hella scary u seen it multiple times in this game….also OFFICIATING WAS GARBAGE

The offense won’t change during the season, that’s something u work on in the offseason, so this is how it’s going to be.

I’m so glad we played this game early because we can take a lot of lessons from this game. There were a lot of bright spots!

I will say this, and I’ve said this from the very beginning. The Pauldo family concerns me. Yelling orders at players (Zee, Prawl, etc) from their sideline seats is not a good look and generally only ends up poorly. Not an attack on their character by any means because I don’t know them, it just seems like a situation that may not end well. Time will tell!

it wasn't defense or team stats that killed us, it was player personnel and missed bunnies.
look at the evenness of the numbers on the right...
the other t hing that sticks out is,,,we are a fstbrk team and they doubled our fbstbrk pts
The player with the most minutes had amongst the least production

Pauldo at maybe 5”4” had as many rebounds as Latham, Prawl and Wolfenbarger combined. Really like Barker’s offense but she has to get more rebounds too.

With more talent on the team the layups after a made basket would hopefully disappear.. but it's still happening. no floor balance at all,..

They’re not a top 10 team, not yet anyway. They could definitely turn into one by year’s end.

It’s a little over the top to say they should be unranked lol. This is for sure a top 25 team.

I’m just not sure this system is going to work at this level. Of course it works at lower levels and against cupcake teams but not against Top 25 opponents. Even mediocre teams, I would put NCST in that category this year, have figured out how to play against this style. How many points did we give up after they broke the press? We saw the same thing last year. I just don’t see this system being successful at this level against the top teams.

I thought the press would be better this year but there was no evidence in this game .....maybe later in the year .The same applies to half court offense .....thought there would be some plays called and a half court offense would improve but no evidence of that in this game ...it was strictly one -on -one offense....maybe later in the year.

It's hard to over come that much difference in fouls against a well coached team. Just to many blatant miss calls that would probably flip the scores . No doubt CKC and staff have work to do to get better. By SEC play I look for the rotation to change quite a bit. But fans don't get to see all the practices and some players make bigger difference in game decisions and play.

I have a lot to say but I need my emotions to calm down. I’ll just wait to say how I feel at the end of the season.

Just a fan with no particular knowledge, so maybe some of you can help me out. What drives me crazy is when they are pressing in the back court and our defensive player moves to prevent a lateral movement, thus allowing the offensive player to break down the court. Happens on the sideline all the time (as it did last year). Often there is a double team coming from the center of the court that gets wasted when the on-ball defender blocks the lateral movement and lets the offensive player drive down the side of the court. Am I just being a dumb fan, or should the one-on-one defensive player in that situation allow the lateral movement and try to stop forward progress?

Well sir they beat the National Champions last year using this system....by the way if you do not recall that was UConn

Is this the same coached team as last year? The three balls were not quick, with better athletes, the pace was slower and the press was less effective than when we had Tess Darby in it a year ago. Is Kim trying to reinvent herself for year two?

Yeah they needed to play a team coached this well they should learn a lot from it . They were not hustling back as much as required against a team that wants to win with the talent and coaching is required. That cupcake and nothing in between got them ready for this game.
